Even with there being limited screen time for Monroe in “The Kiss”, Grimm still continues strong in this second episode of its sophomore season.
With Juliet still in her coma and time running out for Nick to do anything about it, he and mommy struggle to kill the mauvais dentes, which just looks absolutely ridiculous wearing the dead FBI agent’s suit while fighting two Grimm. It was one of the few times in the history of Grimm where I laughed at the monster instead of being nervous about it. And, according to lore, I should be really afraid of the mauvais dentes since they can destroy cities by their lonesome. Anyway, Nick and mom make it out after killing the beast by stabbing the thing in the neck (gross).
Nick makes it to the hospital where Monroe and Rosealee are waiting nervously for him to arrive to put “6 drops. No more, no less” of the potion into Juliet’s eyes. Rosealee explains that while it won’t wake up Juliet, it will stop her from suffering from memory loss, so there’s a plus for when she decides to wake up from her cat scratch fever.
Back at the station, Nick is in some serious hot water when the FBI decides to investigate the murders of two of their best agents. In a bad twist for Nick, they find some of his mother’s hair which links his DNA to the crime scene, and also find out that he was the last one to talk to the agents before they were torn apart. It’s not looking good for our young Grimm, and things just go from bad to worse as the episode continues.
What I really liked about “The Kiss” was the tie in of the Sleeping Beauty fairy-tale and how Captain Renard is beginning to play more and more into this world. I also really loved how protective of Nick mom became, and even when she had to hightail it out of Portland, she still broke my heart saying goodbye to her son.
My spidey sense tells me that it won’t be the last that we see of mom especially as the circumstances surrounding Juliet’s condition just keep getting deeper and deeper into the Grimm mythology. Can’t wait for next week!!!
