The new TNT drama Perception, which just debuted on July 9, has already been renewed for a second season that will consist of 13 episodes slated to air sometime next year.
The series centers on Dr. Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack of ‘Will & Grace’ fame), an eccentric neuroscience professor with paranoid schizophrenia, who is recruited by the FBI to help solve complex cases. Rachael Leigh Cook (‘She’s All That’) stars as FBI agent Kate Moretti, Pierce’s former student who asks him to consult on her cases.
The cast also includes Arjay Smith (‘The Day After Tomorrow’) as Max Lewicki, Pierce’s teaching assistant, and Kelly Rowan (‘The O.C.’) as Natalie Vincent, Daniel’s best friend and every bit his intellectual equal.
‘Perception’ is created by executive producer Ken Biller (‘Star Trek: Voyager’ and ‘Smallville’) and co-executive producer Mike Sussman (‘Star Trek: Enterprise’).
Thus far, the series has only aired five episodes of its debut season, averaging 4.6 million viewers that jumps to 7 million viewers when the Live + 7 ratings numbers are added in. There are five more episodes left in the first season with the next new episode set to air on TNT tomorrow night (August 20) at 10/9c.
