‘Smash’ Adding Sean Hayes To Its Roster of Guest Stars

Back in May we learned that the new showrunner over at Smash was cleaning house and then a month
later, we learned that Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson would be joining the musical drama in a recurring arc.

Now it would seem that the powers that be behind the show are staging a mini-‘Will & Grace’ reunion by casting actor (turned ‘Grimm’ Executive Producer) Sean Hayes in a multi-episode arc, joining former co-star Debra Messing, who appears as Julia Houston, one half of the duo behind the musical within a musical at the heart of the NBC series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/smash-sean-hayes-will-grace-reunion-season-2-361343), Hayes will play “Terrence Falls, a comedic TV and film star (ironic, anyone?) who is making his Broadway debut in the musical Liaisons, based on the novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses”. But, “due to a series of comedic circumstances, he becomes a thorn in the side” of Ivy (Megan Hilty) and other characters.

For those who need a refresher, Hayes starred alongside Messing (as well as Megan Mullally and Eric McCormack) in the ground-breaking NBC comedy ‘Will & Grace’ for eight seasons during the late 90’s and most of the 2000’s. Since that time he has guest starred in episodes of ’30 Rock’, ‘Hot in Cleveland’ and ‘Parks and Recreation’. He will also have a role on ‘Up All Night’ when it returns for its second season. He also appeared in the box office films ‘The Three Stooges’, ‘The Bucket List’ and ‘Win a Date with Tad Hamilton’.

‘Smash’ will be back with its second season on NBC sometime this coming spring.
