This fall BBC One will be offering up scares with its three-part haunted house drama, The Secret of Crickley Hall based on the best-selling novel by James Herbert. The Secret of Crickley Hall is written and directed by Joe Ahearne, and stars Suranne Jones (Scott & Bailey) and Tom Ellis (The Fades) as Eve and Gabe Caleigh, the distraught parents of a missing young boy. A year after their son
vanishes they take their family–including their daughter, played by none other than Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones)–to Crickley Hall in an ill-fated attempt to escape the past. The story will shift between the present day and 1943, as the family attempts to unravel the secrets of the house and find out what those secrets have to do with their missing son.
The trailer (which you can watch below) is pleasantly spooky and features all the haunted house story standbys including voices from beyond the grave, mysterious deaths, a creepy toy moving on its own and a naive character insisting “the dead can’t hurt the living.” Add in the stellar cast and The Secret of Crickley Hall looks to be the perfect treat for Halloween.
No specific airdate has been released yet, but the three-part drama will air on BBC One this fall.
