Next year the provocative new ABC drama Mistresses (based on the UK series of the same name) about four women and their love lives, will debut. The series stars Alyssa Milano (Charmed), Jes Macallan (Justified), Yunjin Kim (Lost) and Rochelle Aytes (The Forgotten); and will now include veteran film and TV actress Penelope Ann Miller in a recurring role.
The series will focus on Savi (Milano), a successful career woman working toward the next phase in her life, simultaneously bucking for partner at her law firm while she and her husband try to start a family of their own. Savi’s free-spirited and capricious baby sister, Josselyn (Macallan), couldn’t be more different, living single, serial dating and partying, and regularly leaning on her big sister along the way. Their common best friend, April (Rochelle Aytes), a recent widow and mother of two, is rebuilding her life after tragedy and learning to move forward, with the support and guidance of her closest girlfriends. And friend Karen (Yunjin Kim), a successful therapist with her own practice, reconnects with the girls after her involvement in a complicated relationship with a patient goes far too deep.
Miller will play the mom of Sam (Erik Stocklin), who has no idea her late husband had a romance with Karen.
Among Miller’s credits are a recent stint on the TV series ‘Men of a Certain Age’ and the box office films ‘Flipped’ and Oscar winning film ‘The Artist’.
ABC has slated to debut ‘Mistresses’ in mid-season, but viewers can anticipate it to air in May of 2013. [Source: Entertainment Weekly]
