She may be best known for her work on the Disney Channel in the kid-friendly TV shows ‘The Suite Life on Deck’ and ‘Jessie’, but actress-singer Debby Ryan can work the dramatic side of acting as evidenced by her recent turn on ‘Private Practice’ as a recovering cocaine addict. She will next be putting those drama chops to work on the A&E drama The Glades when she appears in the July 22 episode as an employee at a luxury medical spa where one of the co-owners turns up dead.
The 19-year-old multi-hyphenate Ryan got her start in the biz starring alongside a certain popular purple dinosaur (that would ‘Barney’ for you adults) before tackling guest roles on ‘Hannah Montana’ and ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’. She also starred in the made-for-TV movies ’16 Wishes’ (with ‘Baby Daddy’ star Jean-Luc Bilodeau), ‘Radio Rebel’ and ‘What If’ (with Kevin Sorbo of ‘Hercules’ fame) and Kristy Swanson (of ‘Buffy, the Vampire Slayer’ – the box office film – fame).
Ryan will also be among a long list of well-known names, such as Timothy Dalton, Mae Whitman, Lucy Hale and Lucy Liu, lending their voices to the upcoming animated movie ‘Tinker Bell: Secret of the Wings’.
‘The Glades’ is currently in its third season on A&E with its next new episode set to air on Sunday, July 8 at 9/8c. [Source: TV Line]
