Matthew Perry Back on TV with First Comedy Pilot ‘Go On’ to Make Series Pick-Up

Friends alum Matthew Perry will be back on TV this fall in the first comedy pilot from this year’s new crop of possible shows being picked up as a series. Go On has received a 13-episode order for this fall with Perry starring and co-executive producing the single-camera laughfest, centering on an irreverent yet charming sportscaster who, trying to move on from a loss, finds surprising solace from the members of his mandatory support group.

The cast of the pilot also includes Laura Benanti (‘The Playboy Club’), Julie White (‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’), Tyler James Williams (‘Everybody Hates Chris’), Suzy Nakamura (the TV series ’10 Things I Hate About You’) and Allison Miller (‘Terra Nova’).

This early pick-up by the network will allow ‘Go On’ to begin putting together a staff and selecting writers. This move could also put pressure on other networks to quickly move forward with their own early pick-ups in order to lock in staff members.

‘Go On’ hails from Holland and Karey Burke’s production company called Dark Toy with the Burkes and Scott Silveri serving as Executive Producers.

There are no details at this time what night of the week the comedy will be scheduled, but viewers can expect that news next month during the network’s upfront presentation to the advertisers in New York. [Source: Deadline]
