5 Reasons You Should Watch Season 3 of ‘The Ricky Gervais Show’ April 20, 2012 Featured, Reviews, The Ricky Gervais Show The Ricky Gervais Show is finally returning for its third season on HBO and I couldn’t be happier. For those who have been fans of the show I don’t think I need to convince you because if you loved previous seasons, this season is more of the same. But for those of you who haven’t seen the show before, well let me introduce it to you and tell you the 5 reasons why you should watch it. The Ricky Gervais Show is a series that animates the very popular podcast from Ricky Gervais, his longtime collaborator, Stephen Merchant, and Gervais’ colleague and friend, Karl Pilkington. In the podcast, Gervais and co talk about random things most of the time driven by Pilkington’s unconventional yet hilarious thoughts. And here are the 5 reasons you should tune in to the show: 1) Karl Pilkington If you don’t know Karl Pilkington yet you’re missing out. Let’s just say he has a very unique way of seeing the world and that drives most of the conversations of the podcast. The scary part is that his thinking process makes totally sense to me most of the time. (i.e.: if he were to explain to a child how evolved from fish to humans: 1) you’re first a fish, 2) then your a mermaid, 3) finally you become human. While it may sound insane, think about it for a second and part of it will make sense.) So that’s Karl Pilkington. 2) Ricky Gervais’s Laugh Ricky Gervais doesn’t need to say much his laugh is so infectious. And did I mention that Gervais finds Pilkington’s thoughts hilarious? And since I mentioned most of the podcast are driven by his ideas let’s just say we get lots of Gervais’ laughs every episode. I would even say that some people watch the show only for this. It’s pretty hilarious. 3) It’s Animated I’m a visual person. I like to see things and as fun as the podcast might be, it being animated just brings it to a whole other level for me. For instance in one episode Pilkington talks about a snail with an owl head, and just seeing that weird animal animated made it even funnier. 4) It’s Funny The show is funny. I think it’s really hard to make random conversations so compelling, but Gervais, Merchant and Pilkington achieve that with flying colors. The Ricky Gervais Show is something compelling to listen to (and watch) and at the end of each episode you can’t wait for more. 5) You Don’t Need To Watch The Previous Seasons To Jump In A big concern when starting to watch a new show when it’s already in its third season is that you won’t be able to understand what is happening. But that’s not the case with The Ricky Gervais Show. You can jump right in since each episode is self contained, which means you have no reasons not to try it. Update: If there was a sixth reason it would have to be Stephen Merchant who told one of my favorite and funniest story in a previous season, which involved him on a beach. I was literally crying of laughter. And those are the five reasons you should tune in to the third season of The Ricky Gervais Show which premieres tonight Friday, April 20th at 9pm on HBO. Finally, before I let you go I want to share a short video promo of the new season featuring Karl Pilkington and Ricky Gervais’ laugh. Enjoy.
