Fact or Faked Paranormal Files (Syfy) Spring Premiere Advance Review April 17, 2012 Reviews, Syfy Tonight is the spring premiere of Syfy’s own Fact or Faked Paranormal Files. I had the chance to watch the first episode in advance and I think the premiere got off on the right foot. What is interesting to me about Fact or Faked is the fact that there are only so many called “paranormal” activities. So, when you center a TV show around those actitivies, you run the risk of repeating stories. This is especially true when the cast uses viral videos off the internet to spark their investigation. Fact or Faked tried to avoid that issue by stretching the definition of “paranormal” in this first episode. The first part of the show titled “The Grim Sleeper” cenetered around a proposed levitating woman. Scary stuff right out of the movie Paranormal Activity. In fact, I had my money on hoax right away considering the popularity and timeliness of the Paranormal Activity movies. This video, at least, fell into the realm of what I would consider to be paranormal. The second part of the show titled “The Real Mr. Freeze” was more of a stretch. This story centered around a real life ice man, so to speak, whose body purportedly could withstand freezing cold temperatures at levels and for durations never seen before. In fact, the man has been given many World Record titles. How is this paranormal? I suppose you could say it was not typically human, and perhaps paranormal. My problem is that I associate paranormal with otherwordly beings, ghosts and aliens, not superhumans. That is my own issue though. This episode of Fact or Faked was good. Despite my initial thoughts, I thoroughly enjoyed the team’s efforts to debunk the levitating woman’s video and to determine the truth as to whether ice man was really able to withstand such temperatures or if he was just performing one of the best magician’s acts. My main thought during the ice man segment, however, is that I am not quite sure that they pay the cast enough money to account for the stuff they put them through on the show. What about you? Will you be tuning in to the spring premiere of Fact or Faked Paranormal Files tonight? What do you think of the show? Are they stretching the bounds of paranormal or do you like the direction in which they take their investigations? Tell me down below. tsavchap “Fact or Faked ParanormaI Files” I will always watch. Austin freezing his precious parts was a bit radical, but they keep it interesting always! I like the current show members a lot! Dani Bradford It is a fun show and I enjoy the methodology they put to debunking the myths.
