The Fox network has cancelled Steven Spielberg’s series of Terra Nova, according to reports from Deadline. As many may have guessed after comments made by Fox’s President Kevin Reilly back at the TCA in January, the network has decided not to pick up the series for a second year after the show failed to pull in promising ratings.
“There is a show, which if we are to bring back, there’s an audience there. But creatively, the show was hunting (for its identity). If we had more holes in our network, we’d be thrilled to lock that right in”, Reilly shared.
The news comes after an extensive and expensive 16 month process of building the set, making it through a slew of writers, as well as a long wait for ‘Terra Nova’ to actually hit the airwaves. Now that the series, that only managed to pull in promising ratings with its two hour debut, didn’t pan out both money wise and among viewers, the drama show is currently being shopped around to other networks who may want to take on the production.
