It all started when Ted’s best friend, aspiring environmental lawyer Marshall, proposed to his college sweetheart, Lily, a kindergarten teacher. Now that the two are married and expecting a baby, Ted realizes that he had better get a move on it if he too hopes to find true love. Helping him in his quest to find his future wife is Barney, a friend with endless, sometimes outrageous opinions, a penchant for suits and a foolproof way to meet women. When Ted meets Robin, he’s sure it’s love at first sight, but after a whirlwind romance with her, he realizes destiny has something else in store for him. The series is narrated through flashbacks from the future.

I just really like Ted and Robin together. I keep hoping that in the future when Ted is talking to his kids that he is convincing his kids that he loved their mother who passed away and that he is marrying “aunt Robin” the next day.

There’s no way Ted marries Robin he meets the mother at Barney’s wedding it has to be Robin and Barney

I’m not saying Robin is the mother. I’m saying I keep hoping Ted and Robin can end up together. One way is if Ted is talking to his kids about how happy he was with their mother but she has passed away and he is marrying Robin the next day. We aren’t emotionally invested in the elusive mother so we can be happy for them.

No, it really doesn’t have to be Barney and Robin. Barney and Robin could easily both end up with other people, or they could both end single. But, the most cliche thing HIMYM could do is have them end together. That would mean two couples emerged from the main group (Marshall and Lily were together from thebeginning, but they’re still in the group and a couple). I thought this show prided itself on being uinique from Friends, not copying it.
