Glee Heartthrob Jonathan Groff and Film Beauty Sanaa Lathan to Join ‘Boss’

The new Starz series Boss will be adding to its cast when it returns for a second season. ‘Glee’ heartthrob and Broadway star Jonathan Groff and film beauty and voice of Donna Tubbs on ‘The Cleveland Show’ Sanaa Lathan are joining as series regulars.

‘Boss’ stars Kelsey Grammer (Cheers and Fraiser) as ruthless Chicago mayor Tom Kane, who is diagnosed with a degenerative neurological disorder for which he hides from everyone except his own physician.

According to Deadline, Lathan is finalizing a deal to play Mona, Kane’s incorruptible new chief of staff, who becomes an obsession for him. While, Groff will play Ian Todd, a smart and ambitious young staffer in Kane’s office who steps into the void Ezra Stone (Martin Donovan) has left to offer astute council to Kane.

Moviegoers will recognize Lathan for her roles in movies like ‘Contagion’, ‘Something Borrowed’, ‘The Family That Preys’, ‘Brown Sugar’ and ‘Love & Basketball’ while Groff appeared on Broadway in ‘Spring Awakening (alongside ‘Glee’ star Lea Michele), on the TV soap ‘One Life to Live’ and the films ‘Taking Woodstock’ and ‘The Conspirator’.

‘Boss’ will return to Starz for its second season at an as-yet undisclosed date.
