Actress Gabourey Sidibe Bumped Up to Series Regular on ‘The Big C’

When the acclaimed Showtime series The Big C returns for its third season on April 8, actress Gabourey Sidibe will be a full-fledged series regular.

Sidibe plays Andrea Jackson, one of Cathy Jamison’s (Laura Linney) students, for whom she has bonded over the course of the first two seasons. As TV Line puts it, the two “could scarcely be closer if they weren’t surrogate daughter and mother”.

As many movie goers know, Sidibe got her big break in the much-buzzed-about independent film ‘Precious’, which landed the young actress an Oscar nomination in 2010. She then appeared in the film ‘Yelling to the Sky’ before landed the role on ‘The Big C’. She also appeared in last year’s ‘Tower Heist’ and will be seen in the forthcoming ‘Seven Psychopaths’ with Colin Farrell and Woody Harrelson.

Again, ‘The Big C’ will return for its third season on Showtime on April 8.

Good for her. Although I wonder how this will affect her ability to do movie roles?
