The geekdom has been high-alert since the news broke yesterday that Firefly-Serenity (and all around geek goddess) actress Summer Glau will be making an appearance on the long-running ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.
The news actually first broke via a post by series creator Shonda Rhimes on Twitter late Monday when she announced the casting of Glau and, soon enough, the net was all aflutter with the news; but no details on what character she will play has been announced as yet.
Besides her work on the short-lived, but critic- and fan-adored world of Firefly and the box office “sequel” Serenity – both created by Geek God himself Joss Whedon – Glau has also appeared in two other short-lived, but fan-adored series – the FOX drama ‘Dollhouse’ (also created by Whedon) and the Fox TV adaptation of the Terminator film franchise – ‘Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’. In addition, she also appeared in the short-lived NBC comic-book themed series ‘The Cape’.
The next new episode of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ – now in its 8th season – will air on ABC on Thursday, February 2 at 9/8c. [Source: TV Line]
