Like a good midseason cliffhanger, “O Holly Night” wrapped up a few plot lines, rekindled a dead romance, introduced some new complications and left us wondering if one of our favorite characters will be coming back to 90210 in January.
Let’s start with Annie. Our hooker with a heart of gold hit rock bottom this week with an invitation to join Patrick (and another girl) for some Hawaiian fun. With bills piling up and Martha’s money out of her reach, Annie finally collapsed…into Liam’s arms. I have to say, I was expecting this reunion, but I didn’t expect it to come so fast.
But just when it looked like Annie had started to get her life back together…she’d even caught Martha’s grandson on tape admitting he hated his grandmother…Liam found out what Annie had been doing for money all semester. Distraught by the idea of the woman he still loves selling her body, he went out on his motorcycle…and hit a car. We left Liam sprawled on the concrete, his money-making face scraped to heck, and the woman who hit him pretending she was an innocent bystander. Considering that she’s a regular TV actress and very pretty, I’d say we have a new 90210 character on our hands.
Naomi’s truce with Holly predictably ended the second Holly found out that Naomi got her mother’s internship and, even more hurtfully, her respect. No surprise here…Holly turned right around and stole Austin back. Strong women have to stick together, but they usually end up at each other’s throats.
Navid had one shot to take down his uncle, but he blew it by being, well, by being a teenage kid taking on a task that was entirely too big for him. And since when does a wired informant get left alone in a dark parking lot after a deal has gone sour? Seriously, this girl working with him is either the worst detective on the force, or she’s in his uncle’s pocket.
Silver found out her lit professor boyfriend had a soon-to-be ex-wife and custody of his stepdaughter. This seemed to be too much for her until she saw Navid, beat up in the hospital, looking too comfortable with his detective. Will these two kids ever work it out? Do we want them to? They were getting a little boring together, like an old married couple.
And as for Adrianna and Dixon…as I thought, what Dixon considered sampling, Adrianna called stealing. Her very personal song with his beatbox rhythms was about to go public, but it seemed like the fame whore within her had died, at least for that moment. After realizing that if he used the song, he would lose Adrianna, Dixon used his own material to apologize to her…after which, she agreed to let him use the song, as long as they didn’t lose sight of what was really important. Let’s see how long that lasts once Aide gets a taste of stardom again. That, more than anything else, is her real addiction.
All in all, it was 90210 at its soapy best. But if Liam dies or something, I’m not sure I could enjoy it as much. His face and abs are 75% of my weekly eye candy.
