PSYCH “In for a Penny.” Season 6 Episode 7 – In this episode Shawn and Gus solve a couple of crimes and meet Captain Kirk…erm I mean William Shatner..oops, I mean Juliet’s dad (aka Frank). Mr. Shatner did a great job and I gotta say that this one took me for a bit of a ride emotionally. First it was “Yay! We get to meet Juliet’s dad! Ain’t he cool??”, then it was more like “Juliet’s dad is a what?”, then “Oh goodie, he’s helping!”, then “Damn him! What a jerk!” and finally, “Aww..he’s trying to be good.”
From one minute to the next I could not figure out how I wanted to feel about the guy. I seriously ran the gambit all the way from totally hating his guts and never wanting Juliet to see him again, to wanting to hug the guy. Talk about diversity.
In the end though I, like Juliet, decided to cautiously give Frank a chance. I loved that he and Shawn got along so well (after all the crime stuff was over, anyway) and I really hope we do get to see him again. I also liked how we got to see Shawn really being a boyfriend to Juliet. Usually we get just little hints here and there that they’re dating and that’s fine but in this one, he was doing everything he could to make his girlfriend happy, right down to throwing her a surprise birthday party. It was incredibly sweet without going too over-the-top.
My favorite bits..
Aw, we’re starting with little Juliet? So sweet..or not. Loved her slamming the door on the delivery guy.
Wondering how long Gus and Shawn were going to hold their breath.
“Idiots.” “What he said.” – Yeah, what they said.
What a strange coincidence. I’m kinda worried about Gary Busey too.
Jules is right. Ginormous ponies are, in fact, horses.
Knowing that Shawn was in big trouble the moment he claimed himself the Master of Women. Ha!
Whoa. Gotta give Shawn props for just coming out and announcing to Juliet’s dad that he was dating his daughter.
“How do you make a living?” “I’m a psychic detective.” “I was asking a serious question.”
Finding Gus’ reaction to the scotch more hilarious than Shawn’s, just because of how hard he tried to hide it.
Shawn and Gus diving under the desk when Lassie walked in the room, and trying to pull Frank down with them.
“Jules, am I in the pound? Is Gus with me?”
“What about me? I knew the exact year of the coin.” “Spoken like a man with no girlfriend.”
Frank and Shawn doing a chest bump.
Gus’ heated denial that coin enthusiasts were an easily scared group of mostly single men. LOL.
Wow, I can’t believe it. Frank stole the penny?
Juliet looking “through” the interrogation room window when she figured out who had the put the penny on Chad’s nightstand. Oh boy.
“There’s no need for that.” “Actually there’s a long overdue need for it.”
Juliet telling her father that she didn’t want him there for the moments that were to come. Wow.
“Don’t touch anything!” “.nothing worth touching.”
Feeling kinda sad that Juliet stopped Shawn and Gus’ little celebratory dance.
Frank telling Juliet all the times he’d seen her plays and birthday parties but had stayed hidden. Aw, that made me so sad.
Lassiter driving the bad guys straight to the police station. That was awesome.
Totally deciding that I want a bouncy house at my next birthday party, too.
