EW is reporting that NBC is currently in the middle of developing a new television series that will be all about puppets. The network is interested in a new project entitled THE NEW NABORS. The series script comes from the well known Jim Henson Company. The plot will reportedly revolve around a regular family who lives next to a family of puppets.

The interesting project is currently being created by writers John Hoffman (Afterlife) and John Riggi (30 Rock). Jim Henson’s daughter, Lisa Henson, who is the CEO of the company, is also on board The New Nabors . Henson will be working on the show as an executive producer.

Whether or not the NBC comedy will make its way to the small screen isn’t known as of yet, but with the big screen return of The Muppets, that features Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and Amy Adams (Leap Year, Superman: The Man of Steel reboot), there could be a huge interest by fans to see something like this fleshed out on the small screen, in the form of a weekly show.

What do you think of NBC’s upcoming puppet series? Would you tune in to the forthcoming comedy The New Nabors?
