
The Showtime network has ordered another season of the hit series WEEDS, bringing the show into its eighth year. From creator at Jenji Kohan, Weeds stars actress Mary-Louise Parker, who plays a housewife and widow, from the start,that gets into some deep dealings, selling drugs to make ends meet. Eventually serving jail time and involving her family in the illegal business, Weeds also stars Justin Kirk (Modern Family, The Subpranos) Hunter Parrish (Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Campus Ladies) Alexander Gould (Supernatural, The Life and Times of Tim), and Kevin Nealon (Saturday Night Live, Glory Daze).
Airing their seventh season finale this past September, Showtime has given the green light for an additional 13 episodes that will begin production in the coming New Year. Last time fans watched Nancy Botwin had just been released from prison, and with the help of her family rebuilt their drug empire from the ground up. After Nancy’s release from prison they also relocated, living comfortably in Connecticut with a new home.
Unfortunately a member of the group may have been fatally shot when the Lionsgate produced dark comedy showcased season seven with the scene of a gun man opening fire on the family.
