The Hub’s CLUE Miniseries Premiere Advance Review

The Hub’s brand new original five-part, live-action miniseries event CLUE premieres tonight, so gather up the family because you’re going to want to watch that one.

Clue is a re-imagining of the popular family game which turns its iconic characters into young modern-day sleuths. For instance the brainiac of the story is nicknamed Professor Plum by one of the other characters. The series also features the iconic weapons and locations fans of the show will surely recognize.

In Clue, six very different young kids witness a crime which sends them on an adventure to uncover hidden treasures and decipher cryptic knowledge to reveal a secret society.

You might already know that I tend to enjoy these kinds of programming. I still mourn the cancellation of Unnatural History on Cartoon Network, and while Clue is for a younger audience, I enjoyed watching the first two episodes immensely. In fact, now I want to find out how it all ends!

I think what I particularly enjoyed about Clue is that they not only have their protagonists using modern technology to communicate to each other (there is a whole lot of texting going on), we see all of that appear over the screen, which really illustrates how communication happens between people nowadays. I don’t think I have seen another show address it so blatantly before, it was refreshing and made me realize how much people text (including me).

In addition, I enjoyed the fact that the Clue reference were not in your face, but more subtle. Yes we see a candlestick, but it’s more of a wink to the audience instead of “look this is the candlestick, like in the game. Get it?!” And so even people that don’t know anything about the game will be able to enjoy Clue for the fun mystery/sleuths miniseries it is.

Clue is great to sit down and enjoy with the whole family, and you might even make a game out of figuring out what the mystery is all about.

Clue premieres tonight with two back-to-back episodes at 8pm on The Hub. Additional new episodes will premiere daily through Thursday, November 17th at 8:30pm, culminating in a five-episode, back-to-back marathon on Saturday, November 19th starting at 1:30pm. Don’t miss it!

Hmm, I never watch this channel–was this formerly Discovery Kids? I’m a big fan of the board game, but way out of the demo for this show. Have set it to recordanyway in the wee hours of the night so I can check it out. Thanks.

From what I remember when they launched it, it sounded like it was a brand new channel and not a name change. But it is part of the Discovery family.

Hope you enjoy the show :)

Don’t know. This was meant to be a miniseries, so I don’t think there are any plans to have any more, but you never know.
