ABC has given freshman drama – and breakout hit series of the fall season – ONCE UPON A TIME and new comedy LAST MAN STANDING full season orders while giving sophomore comedy HAPPY ENDINGS a full season nod as well.
Once Upon a Time was given the crucial “back-9″ episode order after only two airings; both of which garnered the network solid double digit ratings. While the Tim Allen-led comedy has performed well enough since its debut to warrant the pick-up. As for Happy Endings, the comedy experienced solid ratings over the last two airings, actually hitting a series high.
These pick-ups, along with the recently announced full season orders for Revenge and Suburgatory, bring the total of freshman shows ordered by ABC to four, the most out of any other network.
It should also be noted that the new drama Pan Am, while struggling in the ratings, has been kept in flight by the network, which ordered five additional scripts. This script order gives the series some time to get on its feet again now that a new showrunner has been brought on board.
