SUPERNATURAL “Slash Fiction” Review

SUPERNATURAL Slash Fiction Season 6 Episode 6

SUPERNATURAL “Slash Fiction” Season 7 Episode 6 – I can’t even begin to tell you guys how excited I’ve been for this episode and I’m so glad to report that it did not disappoint at all.

Let’s start with LeviSam and LeviDean, which I adored for oh so many reasons. First because let’s face it, watching evil versions of the boys is just plain fun and though we’ve seen a lot of evil Sam over the years (Soulless Sam, LuciferSam, etc), there really haven’t been all that many evil Deans. So I especially enjoyed getting to watch “Dean” be a real bad boy for a little while.

The other reason I loved the Leviathan versions of the guys (and Bobby, too) was that it gave us that little bit of meta we’ve all come to enjoy from Supernatural. LeviDean and LeviSam discussing their counterparts in the diner and LeviBobby giving real Bobby a rundown on his life in the basement were easily two of my favorite scenes in this episode.

There was also that other factor that this show can toss in even during the lightest and silliest of moments. Out of the blue LeviDean lets the real Sam in on the real Dean’s secret about Amy and poof! there’s that angst we all love. I was so caught up in the fun of the evil doublemint twins that I never saw that bit coming, nor did I see Sam walking out on Dean in the end. I understand how angry he was and I guess I get why he did it, but I just didn’t expect this one to end with the boys going their separate ways again.

Plus of course there was the return of Crowley. He may have had his snout figuratively slapped with a newspaper by the new Big Bad, but somehow I doubt that’s the last we’ll see of him. Also, does anyone else remember what Castiel said to him at the beginning of the season, about how he had plans for him? For some reason that thought popped into my head right when Crowley popped into that limo and I have to wonder if there’s something more going on here. Guess we’ll just have to see.

My favorite bits….

OMG it’s Evil Sam and Evil Dean! Yay…..oh wait. They did WHAT???

Meatsicles? Haha! Monster or not, that was hella funny.

My heart hurting at the mention of Cass and how the monsters “downloaded” the info on Sam and Dean from his head.

“Sons of bitches xerox’d us.”

Bobby promising to keep working on “Chatty Cathy” to see if he could find out what makes him die.

Rhymes with sing-songs? Yum. I love those, too.

“Do you have a teleporter?” – Man, if I had a nickel for every time I was asked that..

“I’m going to really enjoy eating you. Right down to that hat.”

Ditch ..ditch…the…CAR?? *starts to hyperventilate*

“You’re all charm, Bobby.”
“So my therapist tells me.”

LOL! Nice one Bobby! I guess if you keep chopping it’ll at least slow them down.

OMG! Is that a MY LITTLE PONY??

“Nobody puts Baby in a corner.” – Classic

*can not breathe* Dean….Air Supply…..silent singing….Sam’s face…. *collapses into hysterical laughter*

Huh, looks like the Leviathans have watched the DVDs.

“You know I had a brother with this many issues once. You know what I did?”
“Hm?”
“I ate him.”

“No, I like this one’s hair better. You can stay in the big one.”

That entire conversation between LeviSam and LeviDean in the coffee shop.

Nice! LeviDean quoting Pulp Fiction? (well almost, he did leave out all the “motherf*ckers”) Awesome!

“You are ten pounds of sad in a five pound bag.” – I have no clue what that means but it was kinda awesome.

LeviDean giving real Dean a wink.

“After I eat you, I’m definitely going to hit the library.”

SOAP??? Are you freaking kidding me??

“You want me to Desperate Housewives these mothers?”

LeviDean vs. Sam + LeviSam vs. Dean = most awesome thing ever.

“You’re wasting a perfectly good opportunity to subjugate the weak.”

Dean chopping off Sam’s head – now there’s a scene I never thought I’d see.

Dean chopping off his own head..sort of – yet another scene I never thought I’d see.

“Sam and Dean Winchester are dead.” – Yay……wait, that sounded wrong.

“Don’t open it, even it if starts talking.” – Always good advice.

Aw, Bobby kissing Jodie. Those two are so cute!

The head monster is named Dick? Really? Well isn’t that appropriate.

Wait. What? No, no, no…..Sam and Dean are not supposed to split up again dammit!

Dean was smoking hot!  I actually expected LeviDean to let out the secret, but it was no less exciting! As for sam walking out, well what do you expect from him. Amy was a monster and Dean was right about taking her out. I understand he may not be happy about Dean lying, but really Sam?! What a doushbag!

Good way to start yet more Deangirl vs Samgirl wank. Cuz this fandom doesn’t have enough of that.

You are absolutely right! I apologize.

Hi lila. Thanks for apologizing, I really appreciate it. I respect people’s right to have a favourite, or to not like something one of the brother’s has done, but as someone who loves both brothers, I really dread the Sam vs Dean wars.

Was this ep not awesome? I approve of your entire list of its awesomeness. I can’t even pick a favourite, I loved all of those moments so much!

This episode of Supernatural was absolutely amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. A few of my thoughts:

    1. The Leviathans are getting more and more interesting. It’s totally scary how easily they’ve infiltrated hospitals, credit card companies, the FBI, and apparently some huge corporation. They could be (and literally ARE) everywhere and there’s no way to tell that they’re a Leviathan until they decide to eat you. Scary stuff. Also, we got a peek into they psyche of the Leviathans. They actually know that Sam and Dean are highly capable people, and they’re just ticked off that they (the Winchesters) aren’t “subjugating the weak.” That’s new. Demons just wanted chaos and killing in the streets, the angels just wanted paradise, and monsters just want to eat. But these things. These things actually want human slavery and they’re smart enough and organized enough to make it happen. That is scary. I actually have no problem with cleaning supplies being able to hurt the Leviathans. Think about all of the random, innocuous things that have been used in the past to take out monsters (salt, iron, silver, etc.). I’m becoming increasingly intrigued by the Leviathans.

    2. LeviDean + LeviSam= hotness of epic proportions. That is all.

    3. It was about time for Dean’s secret to come out, and I had a feeling LeviDean was going to let the cat out of the bag. Someone posted that Sam was a “douchebag” for walking away from Dean, but I disagree. I think that was actually a very mature reaction. Sam was justifiably furious at Dean, not about killing Amy, but for lying to him about it. Not only did Dean lie initially, he continued to lie/mislead Sam and probably would never have told Sam the truth. Furthermore, Sam has made a concerted effort to be completely forthcoming with Dean, and he feels hurt that Dean is not reciprocating. That’s what Sam was angry about. Instead of Sam saying something in anger that he couldn’t take back later, he chose to walk away and cool off first. That’s something more of us should do when we get angry. Think about how many hurt feelings and ruined relationships we could avoid if we just took some time to cool off before speaking. That’s what Sam did. Now when he and Dean do come back together they can actually talk to each other in reasonable, rational tones instead of angrily shouting at each other. That was a very mature thing for Sam to do. Dean let him go because Dean knew Sam needed some time to cool off, and that was also a very mature reaction from Dean. Dean knew he was wrong for lying and he also knew that Sam’s anger was justified, so he didn’t try to stop him when he said he needed some time. I’m sure it wasn’t easy for Dean to let Sam go because Dean hates being alone and he’s worried about Sam. But he knew that in that moment he needed to let it happen. I think that shows tremendous growth and maturity on the parts of Sam and Dean. Just as an aside, that scene between LeviDean and Sam in the police station was wonderfully done by JA and JP. Kudos guys!

    4. Oh Bobby Singer, I think I fall deeper in love with you every episode. Bobby is the man! We got a little insight into Bobby’s psyche via LeviBobby, and he’s had just as hard a time (if not harder) as the Winchesters. He’s apparently also got daddy issues and feels the weight of his job. He’s very much like Dean, with one major exception. Where Dean has lost hope and doesn’t know why he keeps going, Bobby has Robert Browning. “A man’s reach should always exceed his grasp.” That sheds a great deal of light on how Bobby keeps going and why Bobby keeps fighting. He knows he’s not going to win them all, but he’s gotta keep trying, keep pushing, keep reaching. Oh that Dean would take that to heart! And Bobby finally got himself a kiss! Bobby has always been the Rock of Gibraltar and taking care of everyone else, but sometimes even the rock needs someone to lean on. Jodie seems to be willing to accept that task. I kinda like her. I hope she gets to stick around for a really long time.

I loved so many other things about this episode. The pacing was excellent, the writing was great, and who doesn’t love double portions of Dean and Sam. Excellent review of an excellent episode!

Awesome comment as always! I love everything you just said. :o )

Sam walking away wasn’t douchey; He needed to cool off. It was actually more mature than say punching his brother in the face. Just saying.

This episode was beautiful, pure Supernatural at its core. There was sooooooooo many fun lines, I think we could quote the lines that were not epic and it’d be easier. Frank was awesome, quote pretty much EVERYTHING he said. Hilarious. Dean and Sam, both real Dean and Sam, and LeviDean&Sam…awesome. I loved it. Bobby and Jodie…awesome. In case you didn’t know, I thought this episode was awesome.
The bummer, Sam walking away. I agree with why he did, I wish he wouldn’t have left, but like it has been said, what else was he supposed to do. Not only did the secret come out, and everything it means behind it, but he didn’t even find out from Dean. However, I wish he hadn’t left because they are not safe right now, they have these things gunning for them, seeking them out, but as we all saw they will be back together next episode. So I’m good.

“…. I think we could quote the lines that were not epic and it’d be easier…..”

I often think that myself when I am writing these reviews. Keeping up with the good stuff is hard when the whole ep is good. But I wouldn’t want it any other way.

I loved this episode so, so much – my favourite of season 7 so far!

It moved the Leviathan storyline along nicely, and introduced a couple of intriguing new characters i.e Dick (appropriate name!), and the wonderfully crazy Frank, who I would personally love to see again!

Evil Sam and Dean were everything I’d hoped they’d be, and the conversation in the diner was just brilliant – I will now only refer to Sam and Dean as Chuckles and Schizo! ;)

However, the final scene left me with mixed emotions… Yes, I can understand Sam’s reaction to discovering Dean had killed Amy – but having seen the brother’s part a number of times previously, I felt, for me personally, this current separation didn’t pack the same emotional punch as the previous ones we’ve witnessed over the years between these two. I understand Sam needs time to calm down and process everything, but walking away from the situation is, as proven time and time again, never the solution for these two. I guess after seeing the breakdown of this relationship, which for me began at the beginning of season 4, and the time it’s taken for Sam and Dean to once again get back to a place of strength and kinship, I just want the brothers working side by side for at least a whole season!

So please sort it out boys… quickly!

I totally agree with you about the final scene. I understand what everyone else has said about him ending cooling off space and time, but every time they split up, it just makes more trouble.

In general, this was a great episode, I just wish the ending had been different.
