Chord Overstreet has signed on to appear in ABC’s THE MIDDLE. The former Glee star, who opted out of a ten episode stint on the musical series’ upcoming season to go his own creative way, has been cast as a season three guest star on the hilarious family drama. Chord has signed on to play Brick Heck’s (Atticus Shaffer) “young and idealistic fourth-grade teacher” at Orson Elementary School, according to TV Line.
Scheduled to appear in The Middle’s September 28th episode, Overstreet’s character Ralph Wilkerson will clash with Brick’s parents, Frankie (Patricia Heaton) and Mike (Neil Flynn), due to their hippy child rearing ways.
Chord Overstreet joins both recently added guest stars, Ray Romano, and Saturday Night Live vet Molly Shannon. The Everybody Loves Raymond star will show open in the first episode of the new season as a man in Frankie’s past, while Shannon is slated to portray her sister Janet in an upcoming episode.
The Middle is scheduled to return in its third year on ABC September 21st. What do you think Glee fans? Are you excited that Overstreet has found work since hearing the news at this year’s Comic Con that he would not be returning to the show after all?
