MEMPHIS BEAT “The Feud” Season 2 Episode 10 – When I sat down to watch this episode, I nearly forgot that it was the season finale. Strange that TNT didn’t do much to advertize that. In fact I was so unsure if it really was the finale that I went online and started researching just to make sure that I was right.
All that aside though, this was another great episode. Dwight and the rest of the team are trying to track down the person who shot a woman and find themselves dealing with a modern day Hatfields and McCoys. But when it turns out that the female heir apparent from one clan was dating the male heir apparent from the other one, it might be more accurate to say that the two families were modern day Montagues and Capulets.
The secondary storyline was a lot of fun, too. Everyone at the precinct is trying to figure out who Dwight is dating, while simultaneously trying to plan his surprise birthday party. With this crew you can imagine how well things go with both plans. They do manage to get Kaylee’s name but Sutton pretty much blows it when he goes to invite her to the party. Then there’s the fact that Dwight knows all about it, which takes away the whole “surprise” part of the proceedings.
In the end the team ends up on stage singing with Dwight in a very sweet moment. Not exactly a cliffhanger but then again, who says every season has to end with one of those? I have to admit that it took a while for this season to find its pace for me and now that it has, I’m really hoping we get another season.
My favorite bits..
“Maybe you’ve been eating your toast too aggressively.”
Dwight telling Greenback that Kaylee did have a name, but not telling him what it was.
Dwight and Whitehead mumbling “lawyer” as the lawyer walked past them.
“Look, as much as 150 years of Memphis history might make you think otherwise, the Murphy clan is not above the law.”
Finding out that Greenback ran Kaylee’s plates to find out her name. Wow, you can’t keep a secret around cops, can you?
Whitehead telling Sutton that half the fun of throwing Dwight a birthday party was that he wasn’t going to like any of it.
Sutton doing the worst bit of lying I’ve seen in a long time, trying to explain why he was standing in front of Kaylee’s car.
Dwight and Whitehead both grinning briefly when the bartender admitted that he tended to remember the names of his female customers, but not so much the guys.
“I’m not gonna get in any trouble, am I?” “You gonna go out of your way to piss me off?” “No.” “Then no.” – Haha, I’m beginning to really like Greenback
The look on Sutton’s face when he saw Kaylee at the station.
Whitehead pointing out to Kaylee that Sutton may not have been their best emissary.
“Maybe we should just throw them all in a room and let them kill each other.” “That’d save on overhead.”
Rice noticing that Tom and Kate were getting “all soft and dewy” with each other. Aha! That does explain a few things.
“Okay then, we’ve worked through the feelings part of this conversation but we still need to get to the solution part.”
Whitehead telling Dwight that if he knew about the party, then he also knew he was being a jackass for not showing up. Ha!
Dwight diving on the brother before he could shoot. Whew!
Everyone’s pathetic ‘surprise!’ when Dwight walked in the door.
The fact that the first thing Dwight’s momma said to him about Kaylee was that she was real. LOL.
“You all know how much I dislike public celebrations of my birthday. I appreciate you care enough to ignore me.”
Dwight the “ringleaders” for his party to get up on stage with him.
As much as they bitched and moaned, Sutton, Greenback and Whithead did a good job of backing up Dwight..and some might fine dancing I might add.
What did you think of this episode of Memphis Beat? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!
