THE NINE LIVES OF CHLOE KING “Responsible” Season 1 Episode 9 – I can honestly say that human trafficking is one topic that I would NEVER have guessed would be written into an episode of THE NINE LIVES OF CHLOE KING. And yet, how wrong I was.
In the ninth episode of this series, Meredith introduces Chloe to her boyfriend’s daughter. Vanessa and Chloe seem close in age, but well. Chloe is just leaps and bounds a head of her new friend. During dinner, a remarkably AWKWARD quasi family dinner; Chloe and Vanessa bond and Vanessa confides in Chloe about her boyfriend.
Poor Chloe really thinks that she’s just giving some great advice, but it results in Vanessa running away from home to be with her b/f. who turns out to be a human trafficker. If that sentence makes you say “Huh?” you are not alone. But I guess the writers needed some way for Chloe to kick ass this week, and she does! Don’t fret – Vanessa does not fall victim to the scumbag, instead Chloe saves the day.
In addition to saving her new friend’s life (human traffickers? REALLY?), Chloe is also the luckiest girl alive. Meredith, being the most awesome mother in the world, buys her a new car. The Kia Solar that Chloe had been admiring is now hers. Nice product placement, Kia!
Then there is still the love triangle between Brian, Alek, and Chloe. I will say my favorite scene was when Alek went to Paul for advice about dating Chloe. The geeky best friend role has been done before, but somehow Paul doesn’t seem like a cheap rip off of the other characters. He seems genuine, and his questions back to Alek before giving him any information on Chloe were fantastic.
And now we need to discuss the punching. Chloe tells Alek to leave Brian alone, but Brian ends up clocking him, using the excuse that he believed Alek was hurting Chloe. Awwwww. Brian. But things don’t really work out the way he intended. Alek and Chloe kiss AGAIN and made plans to actually date.
For some reason this makes me extremely happy.
Once again, The Nine Lives of Chloe King was entertaining and kept me wanting more – just maybe less human trafficking next time?
