At last, we’re going to learn more about McGee’s (Sean Murray) family in the upcoming ninth season of CBS’ NCIS. To tide us over until then, Lily Tomlin gave a sneak peek into her guest star role as McGee’s grandmother, Penelope. According to TVLine.com, Tomlin describes Penelope McGee as a scientist who is very sharp. So it appears that geeky McGee takes after his grandmother. Tomlin goes on to detail that her character is the mother of McGee’s father and has been “an admiral’s wife for many decades.”
NCIS showrunner Gary Glasberg has already expressed the show’s hope of getting Tomlin to return to the show again, after this “really fun, big, McGee-centric episode.”
I, for one, am definitely looking forward to the episode. How about you? I can’t recall the last one that was centered on McGee, or even the last time we learned anything new about his background.
