THE NINE LIVES OF CHLOE KING “Heartbreaker” Season 1 Episode 8 – Chloe is having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. On this week’s THE NINE LIVES OF CHLOE KING, we pick up the ABC Family show right where we left off last week, with Chloe and Alek smooching outside.
HOWEVER, what Chloe doesn’t know is that Brian had been standing by and saw the entire thing. Chloe tries to smooth things over with Brian, but understandably he wants nothing to do with her explanations. Not that you can blame the guy, he’s been trying to get a little action from Chloe for a LONG time, and never got further than “we can just be friends”.
During her very Chloe like rambling apology to Brian, she MAY have said “it was nothing” (meaning her and Alek’s kiss), which doesn’t sit real well with her fellow Mai pal. Again, understandably so. he’s been pining for Chloe since the beginning of the series and FINALLY gets some romantic action from her and “it’s nothing”? Needless to say, Alek leaves Chloe alone in the street watching Brian’s retreating tail lights. Brutal.
Cut to Chloe being angsty on a rooftop (at 1:08AM, but I digress) and hearing the sounds of a woman in distress. Using her powers, Chloe jumps into action, only to discover that she has interrupted a pair of thieves arguing over the jewelry they had just stolen. After making even MORE noise, the cops show up and escort Chloe back to her mother who is NONE too pleased.
Meredith wants to find out what’s up with Chloe’s behavior lately and ends up looking through her computer. She finds the email from Chloe’s father, and she and Chloe sort of have words about them. BUT, since Meredith is the best mother EVER, she apologizes to Chloe for having been put into a situation where she felt she had to keep things from her mother.
The “case” this week involved the two robbers from the opening scene; turns out a dirty cop was also involved and the thieves and detective end up breaking into Chloe’s house to “shut her up”, and JUST when you think that Chloe is going to tell her mom about being Mai, Alek (who up to this point had been colder than cold towards Chloe) steps in and saves the day.
But it turns out that Chloe isn’t the only one keeping secrets. Meredith has some of her own that pertain to Chloe’s birth and her father. and I hope we get to see more of this soon!
That was the part of the story that really intrigued me on The Nine Lives of Chloe King this week. I WANT BACKSTORY! I want to know why Chloe was the only survivor in this “massacare” that her father wrote about. I want to know why he
decided to adopt her.
I ALSO want to know why Brian found his mother’s engagement ring in that storage locker that he opened up. If it is as important to her as he says, it stands to reason that something else is afoot with her death. Or. maybe she ISN’T dead (pretty sure she is, but just throwing that theory out there).
The Nine Lives of Chloe King has sucked me in and I have to say that I’m pretty much addicted. I’m really, REALLY glad that I stuck with the show and didn’t give up on it during its infancy. While there are certain points that tend to try my interest, the overall story is great, and the writing just keeps getting better!
