TEEN WOLF “Co-Captain” Review

Teen Wolf (MTV) Co-Captain episode 10

TEEN WOLF “Co-Captain” Season 1 Episode 10 - Scott is pulled in all directions, trying to protect his acquaintances from being turned into wolf food or into wolf. For the most part, he is completely on top of his game in tonight’s TEEN WOLF, until he fails to move out of the way of the “Hale of bullets.” Peter is deliciously sinister as he tries to convince Scott to join his pack. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Jackson is also trying to convince Scott to fully transform him into wolf. But by the end of “Co-Captain” he is only revealed as a scaredy-cat.

Jackson and Scott: “You have all this power and don’t know what to do with it.” And Jackson does? I can only imagine what Jackson would do with his wolf powers, if he ever gets them. I tend to find him irritating, but I am starting to warm to the character of Jackson. I want to find out more about his story, his past and how it relates to the Hales’ house and the fire. Above all, why did he dream about the house?

Allison and Scott: Though I enjoyed the sweet scenes between Allison and Scott – especially the one in the woods, why is Allison suddenly being nice to Scott again? I never did understand why her fear led her to break up with Scott. Good move on Scott’s part with “finding” the necklace and returning it to Allison.

Allison and Lydia and Scott: Best frenemies! Another scene in the woods that I liked. A date with Jackson to get back for the kiss with Scott – a fair trade?

Kate takes it upon herself to initiate Allison into the family business, and introduces her to Derek under the guise of a werewolf. How will Chris respond to this? So now everyone knows of the existence of werewolves. This will open up possibilities in the plot. Well, Lydia is still trying to convince herself that it’s just a cougar. And thankfully Scott’s mom and Stile’s dad are still in the dark.

Peter and Scott: It’s rational to think that Peter, Derek and Scott would be more powerful together, killing the ones responsible for the fire (including Allison). But why Scott? Were all other werewolves killed in (or out of) the fire? We are being led to believe that the Hales, not simply the Argents, also have something to do with the fire. Who truly started the fire then? Who killed Laura Hale?

Derek seemed to be in a daze throughout the episode. Is it because he is carrying out Peter’s orders? Why did he let himself get caught by the Argents? If this continues, I hope it doesn’t make the character one-sided and boring. Whose side is he on – Scott or Peter’s? When push comes to shove, Derek has always had more bark than bite toward Scott. And is it significant that both Derek and the vet used the phrase you’re going to be all right? Who or what is the vet and who is he connected to? Would Derek have carried out what I assume was Peter’s plans for Jackson?

Yes, things are getting confusing, but in a good way.

You asked why did Jackson dream about the house.  Jackson was scratched by Derek.  When Scott was scratched by Peter at the beginning of this episode he had feverish visions about the fire and what happened to Laura.  It looks like scratching someone in the back of the neck is a way a werewolf can send his/her memories to the other person which is what happened to Jackson.  In the previous episode when he was having his neck treated he mentioned he was having nightmares about a burning house.  Also, Derek probably didn’t realize he had scratched Jackson like that because Derek was poisoned at the time.

As for what side Derek’s on, that’s a tough one.  I’m hoping Derek is helping Peter right now because he told Scott he’d help find the alpha so that Scott can kill the alpha and be cured, but I will have to wait until the next episode.

Thanks!  That’s what I thought about Jackson’s dreams, too.  But then Derek seemed surprised to hear about them and asked him if he had been in the house before, which left things unclear for me.
