MEMPHIS BEAT “Identity Crisis” Review

MEMPHIS BEAT (TNT) Identity Crisis

MEMPHIS BEAT “Identity Crisis” Season 2 Episode 8 – In this episode, Dwight and the rest of the team are on the trail of a modern day Bonnie and Clyde who have been stealing money from some good folks. But when “Bonnie” is actually Mom and “Clyde” is her son, things get a bit more complicated.

Meanwhile poor Dwight has a heartbroken momma on his hands after her fiancé Tony breaks up with her. It’s bad enough that he’s never really liked the guy, but then he finds out that Tony is wanted by the law and the reason he ended their engagement was that he was turning himself in. It’s like he was just giving Dwight more and more reason to dislike him. Though I gotta say that I did kind of admire him for facing up to it all, especially after Dwight made him face up to Paula, too.

My favorite bits..

Sexy, sexy, sexy…yes I’m talking about the car again. Surely, ya’ll should know by now how much I appreciate some good GTO porn. LOL.

“I’m sure coming down here with a bat seemed like a good idea at the time.”

Dwight pointing out to the man that he wouldn’t be acting the way he was if his son was there.

Huh, I’m with Dwight – after hearing the story, suddenly grabbing a bat does kinda start making sense.

Poor Dwight trying to decide if he’s happy or sad that Tony broke off his engagement with his momma.

“We steal our WiFi from the bail bondsman next door.” – The best part was that Allie seemed to believe him.

Aw, methinks Sutton is building himself a nice little crush.

Sutton figuring out the connection between the fraud victims.

Huh, Sutton’s daddy sounds like my daddy. He never trusted banks either.

Sutton’s “Don’t be silly” when Rice asked him if all his money was under the mattress.

The dad asking Dwight to go feed his son’s hamster. Aw.

Huh, now it looks like Dwight’s building a nice little crush of his own.

“Because only idiots would do business with assholes like this.”

Whitehead in that red jacket trying to rent that dude a car with Dwight talking smack in his ear. LOL.

Dwight’s momma telling he wasn’t playing fair by singing her favorite song.

Sutton asking Allie out to a stock car race. Too cute.

Knowing as soon as the doc said that the guy wasn’t going anywhere, that Roy wouldn’t be behind that curtain.

Dwight and Whitehead playing 20 questions while waiting for Roy to show up.

“You’re gonna have to shoot me then!”
“Your mother wouldn’t be very happy about that.”

Them playing one of my all-time favorite Elvis songs. “It’s Now or Never” always reminds me of my dad.

Sutton asking Allie out. Such a cute couple.

Dwight going back to probably get a date of his own. Turns out that hamster is quite the wingman.

Something bugged me – Tony said he never took a cent from Dwight’s mother, yet it’s mentioned in season one that she gave him a big check because he “needed the money”.

Good point. I have to admit that I had totally forgotten about that.
