MEMPHIS BEAT “Inside Man” Season 2 Episode 2 – In this episode, when a current crime spree matches the M.O. of an old bunch of crimes, Whitehead and Dwight reluctantly accept the help of a know-it-all consultant who seems to know a lot about both sprees.
Last week’s episode started the season off on a dramatic note, but this one took the show back into a more comedic direction. That was helped in no small part by guest star Thomas Lennon, who played the consultant. All I can really say about him without giving any spoilers is that he and Dwight spend a lot of time on screen and all of their scenes together were nothing short of hilarious.
Meanwhile, Whitehead is going through some issues of his own and like a good partner, Dwight not only figures out what they are, but also exactly what he needs to say to fix them.
Overall, as much as I enjoyed last week’s premiere episode from this season, I gotta say that I liked this one a lot more. It just had more of the “feel” of Memphis Beat that I remember from the first season – lots of great music, funny stuff, character moments, and was just plain tons of fun.
My favorite (non-spoilery) bits…
“I don’t care if it’s the Fox Meadow Gang or the resurrection of Jesse James, we’re gonna get them this time.”
Laughing at the fact that I started doing a countdown at the exact same moment that Dwight did.
Someone having a very unusual (at least on this show) reaction to the Lieutenant.
Being more than a little surprised to hear Bob Marley being used on this show. That was an artist I never expected to hear on Memphis Beat. It was one of my favorite songs though, so I totally dug it.
Dwight trying to keep someone’s inquisitive hands away from his things and telling them to “stay away from my stuff” – LOL.
Absolutely loving the song that Dwight sang in this week’s episode.
Cracking up at a ‘Jersey Boys’ reference making its way onto the show.
Finding Whitehead’s smile more and more..strange.as the episode went on. (Trust me, that’ll make sense once you’ve seen it).
“One day the police will realize the value of social networking sites for crime solving.”
Dwight giving Whitehead a great pep talk while on a stake out.
“Just say the word and I’ll taze the little bastard.”
Dwight ordering a human being to “stay” – yes, totally like a dog.
The best use of a big toe, like, ever.
Most. Awkward. Serenade. Ever.
Once this episode of Memphis Beat airs, come on up and let me know what you think. I’d love to hear from you!
