Wondering what’s coming up in Season 2 of Disney XD’s PAIR OF KINGS? Daemon’s TV was there when Mitchel Musso and Doc Shaw sat down to answer a few questions about the series.
For those who don’t know, Pair of Kings is live-action comedy series, which follows fraternal twins, Brady (Mitchel Musso) and Boomer (Doc Shaw), who find out they are successors to the throne of the island of Kinkow and move there to claim their throne as joint Kings, while trying not to cause havoc at every turn.
The new season premieres tonight, June 13, at 8pm on Disney XD.
Can you talk a bit about Season 2 of the show?
Mitchel Musso: I think the second season really opens everybody’s minds up into, ‘Okay, now this was already hard enough to believe, us being twins, nevertheless all the things that happened on the show.’ But second season just ties it all together and it all makes sense, why we’re there. It’s more about us being these kings that they need. All the comedy is still there. There’s tons of action, romance. It’s got the whole nine yards.
Do you think this is a show primarily for boys?
Mitchel Musso: I think it’s for both, but it’s definitely geared towards the boys. I think the whole XD platform is really.
What kind of feedback have you gotten from fans?
Mitchel Musso: The feedback is great. The show has been doing really good, and it’s nice being recognized as another character instead of just the same thing all the time. When you get involved with a project for enough time obviously that’s going to happen, but it’s nice being something else.

Do you film in front of a live audience?
Doc Shaw: Yes. We film in front of a live audience. It’s not really that difficult. I think it brings a different aspect to the show and lets us see what we’re doing right, what we’re doing wrong, what jokes need to change, what jokes need to stay. I think it’s a really good thing that we perform in front of a live audience. Plus, we get to connect with the fans who have been there supporting this show and brand new concept since day one.
As kings what message do you want to send to your fans?
Doc Shaw: I think the message that we’re sending towards our fans from this particular show is that with great power comes great responsibility. Not only are we kings of this island and are there to have fun, but we have people’s lives in our hands. We’re ruling an island, a whole kingdom and we’re trying to make sure that everything stays afloat pretty much. We have to be mature. That’s what you see in season two, that we’re definitely more mature than in season one and are taking on a little bit more responsibility and a bigger outlook on what our overall goal is on the island and as kings.
How big is the island and how many people live there?
Doc Shaw: We don’t know the measurement of the island, how big it actually is. It’s like using your imagination at that point. If I were to say, I’d say maybe a hundred thousand islanders and I would say that the island is about as big as the main island in Hawaii.
Mitchel Musso: Yeah, and then again it’s got a dark side that we don’t even know about. So there’s a whole other half of the island that we don’t really know how many people are over there, who’s over there and what’s over there, just a few things that we’ve figured out so far.

What’s the coolest thing that you’ve done on the show so far?
Mitchel Musso: I think all the wirework, all the stunts are really exciting. Anything involving a green screen, when they get that out and the slow motion cameras out it’s like you know something is going down.
Do you do a lot of green screen?
Mitchel Musso: We do. We work on the green screen every week.
Does playing kings, people who are in charge, is that different from playing regular people?
Mitchel Musso: Yes, I think so, because you kind of have, I guess the nicest word possible is an arrogance to us. It’s also funny, but a very different character.
Doc Shaw: I think you see more of a mature side of a character when you have lives in your hand. There’s a difference from when you’re just playing a character for yourself where you can make your own persona. You can be arrogant, you could be cocky, you could be nice, you could be sweet. You could be anything, but once it comes to where you have to be an adult and take over things and make sure that things go smoothly then you see a different side of a character.
