CAMELOT “Reckoning” Season 1 Episode 10 (Finale) – WOW. That’s the first thing that jumps into my head in writing this review for the season finale of CAMELOT. Just… wow. Between the Arthur’s opening scene of defending Bardon Pass by himself, all the freaking death that occurred, and then the final scene of “Reckoning”, this was just an episode that made my mouth hang open.
For the season finale, Starz gave us an episode to remember. Arthur has to defend Bardon Pass alone since he sent the rest of the calvary away. We all know he was doing it for redemption because of Guinevere, but regardless, Arthur turns into one crafty guy. He ends up single handedly destroying a few of Morgan’s men, and even capturing one to torture. The guy eventually sings like a canary (which you would do too if you’d been stabbed through the ankle, beaten on, and probably stabbed a few more times for good measure), and Arthur discovers that his sister isn’t the wonderful ally he initially thought she was (come on Arthur. Use your brain.).
Eventually, Arthur’s luck runs out. Just when we think all is lost, Leontes arrives in the nick of time along with Kay and the rest of Arthur’s crew. The good guys end up winning, but not without cost. I’ll spare spoilers for those that haven’t seen the episode yet. Suffice to say, I cried. Not gonna lie.
Back at Camelot, Morgan has arrived and is slowly taking over with the help of the people – with Arthur away, who will protect them? Their fear is only magnified when Morgan is presented with Excalibur, and the people of Arthur’s land decide to make her the first queen of Camelot. Merlin and Igraine are forced to await their fate by the hands of Morgan.
It seems like a dark day in Camelot when Morgan (who is an AMAZING actress) is about to be crowned queen, when Arthur strolls into Camelot. He exposes Morgan for her treason, however Sybil confesses to everything so Morgan will be spared. Just saying, Morgan had a good thing going with that nun.
There was a heart breaking moment with Sybil was about to be killed when she looked up and said “I thought she’d come…” which made me FURIOUS at Morgan.
I can’t go into more of a recap for fear of spoilers, HOWEVER, let’s just say that Morgan does have her revenge on Arthur.
I’m really, REALLY looking forward to season 2 of Camelot. What do you think? Did you enjoy the finale? Will you tune in next season?
