How would you like to see TRUE BLOOD stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer in 3-D? Well, you might get the chance to do so in the future, according to True Blood creator Alan Ball. In an interview, Ball told LATimes.com that the show has been experimenting with stereoscopic technology and filmed a scene in 3-D to test the waters. While there are no plans to air the scene, or even to take the show 3-D, Ball stated that he “would be surprised if — depending on how long the show lasts — that doesn’t happen at some point, especially if 3-D technology gets beyond having to wear the glasses.” He expressed that shooting in 3-D was not much more difficult than usual methods of filming, which would imply a greater possibility for the show to add another dimension.
Based on Charlaine Harris’ Dead to the World, the fourth novel in The Southern Vampire Mysteries, season 4 of HBO’s True Blood starts on June 26. The new season will find Sookie Stackhouse in the middle of a territorial battle between vampires and witches!
What are your opinions on the growing popularity of 3-D? I can see the freakish appeal and excitement of werewolves or vampires seeming to jump out at you, but I think that I would prefer 2-D for most TV shows.
