With ONE TREE HILL renewed for its ninth and final season, it’s once again time to speculate as to whether Hilarie Burton and Chad Michael Murray will pay at least one last visit to the show that made them stars.
According to TV Line, CW executives think it will happen. Outgoing CW president Dawn Ostroff said that her successor Mark Pedowitz would talk to Burton and Murray in an attempt to convince them to reprise their roles as Peyton Sawyer and Lucas Scott. She made clear that nothing has been arranged yet, but according to Pedowitz, the fact that it is now known that there are only thirteen episodes left to wrap up the series “makes it more possible as far as cast members coming back,”
One Tree Hill had tried to lure the two veterans back for a guest spot this spring, but because both Burton (White Collar) and Murray (A Haunting in Georgia) were working on other projects, scheduling could not be worked out.
Because the last season of One Tree Hill isn’t scheduled to air until mid-season, there should be ample time to figure out scheduling conflicts, so hopefully Burton and Murray can return the favor of their fans’ loyalty and help give their former show a proper send-off.
