The HBO film GAME CHANGE has added Ron Livingston, Larry Sullivan, Jamey Sheridan, Melissa Farman, Sarah Paulson, Peter MacNicol, and Justin Gaston to its cast, which already includes Ed Harris, Julianne Moore and Woody Harrelson.
Directed by Jay Roach and written by Danny Strong, the project comes from Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman’s Playtone Productions in association with Everyman Pictures. According to Deadline.com, Game Change will follow John McCain’s (Ed Harris) 2008 presidential campaign, from his selection of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (Julianne Moore) as his running mate to their ultimate defeat by Barack Obama in the general election. It is based on the book of the same name, written by political journalists John Heilemann and Mark Halperin.
TVGuide.com reports that Ron Livingston (Defying Gravity, Band of Brothers) will play Mark Wallace, a senior advisor on the campaign who prepared Palin for her debate, while Harrelson will play Steve Schmidt, McCain’s senior campaign strategist and advisor.
Larry Sullivan (CSI) has been cast as Chris Edwards, Sarah Palin’s deputy chief of staff, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Jamey Sheridan (Trauma) will play Mark Salter, John McCain’s speechwriter and senior campaign advisor. And Melissa Farman (Temple Grandin, Lost) will play the part of Bristol Palin.
Deadline.com states that Sarah Paulson (Cupid, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) will play Nicolle Wallace, McCain’s senior campaign adviser, who worked for Jeb Bush and then for McCain. She is described as an “attractive, wholesome, California-bred, smart, focused and ambitious political writer and communications chief. Peter MacNicol (Grey’s Anatomy, Ally McBeal) will play McCain’s campaign manager Rick Davis, who oversaw the development and implementation of all campaign strategy and policy development.” And finally, Justin Gaston has been cast as Levi Johnston, Bristol Palin’s former boyfriend and fiancé, with whom she has a son.
In and of itself politics is an iffy subject, but who knows how it will turn out when made into a TV movie. Are you looking forward to this adaptation?
