CSI “Father of the Bride” Review

CSI “Father of the Bride”, Season 11 Episode 20 – Everybody’s favorite recurring CSI villain returned tonight in “Father of the Bride”. Nate Haskell, one of my favorite parts of this show, returned this week as we get near the end of this 11th season. With only 2 more episodes left in this season, it seemed inevitable that such a huge villain would be making another appearance.

I’ve stated before on my reviews of this show how much I enjoy recurring characters on procedurals. It’s a great way to reward the fans of the show who keep up every episode, and it’s a good way to encourage people to keep watching the show every week. It may be confusing to people who don’t keep up on the show every week, but who cares about them, right?

As an aside to the above paragraph, I’m confused about those people who just watch a TV show every couple episodes. I mean, I check the Nielsen ratings for TV shows every morning, and I don’t understand how there can be so much variance from episode to episode. For instance, the episode of Glee that aired two nights ago was the lowest rated episode of the season. This means that a couple million people who usually watch that show, a scripted drama that you can’t miss an episode of or you’ll be confused, just decided to not watch that show. Who are these weirdos who just check up on TV shows every couple of months?! It happens with every TV show, and I wish people would just make up their minds and choose to either watch or not watch!

Anyway, back to the episode. I was a little disappointed that the episode fizzled out so much with barely even ever showing Haskell in person. It seems like it’s really working up to the season finale, but that’s a little odd for a procedural show. While I do appreciate recurring characters on procedurals, I am not a fan of episodes that don’t feel complete or well developed. There was a pretty good cliffhanger at the end, showing us Haskell’s plan for getting to Ray. It will be interesting to see how this turns out, even if the episode getting us there wasn’t as interesting in itself.

Random Thoughts:

- How about Nick exclaiming “Holy cow!” before almost hitting a stray cow, and then yelling “MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE!” The guy’s like a human Dixie cup!

- I would take in that creepy farmer for questioning. Anybody that spooky is up to no good. Oh, and are we supposed to

- I liked the little cameo from Breaking Bad’s Dean Norris. For those of you who are a fan of Breaking Bad, look for my reviews of that show when it premieres in July!
