BREAKING IN “White on White on White” Review

BREAKING IN (FOX) White on White on White

BREAKING IN “White on White on White” Season 1 Episode 4 – I don’t know how they’re doing it, but somehow this show gets exponentially better each and every week. I mean we’re only at episode 4 people, and already I’m in love with every single character and find the storylines funnier and funnier.

This week’s main story was all about Melanie’s dad coming to visit after getting out of prison. Turns out that Oz was the one who put him there in the first place and once Melanie hears that little tidbit, she decides to go into cahoots with him again. Meanwhile pops has been playing the entire team so that he could get the info he needed to steal a painting. When daddy and daughter try to ruin the job, we find out that Oz always has a plan (that his first rule in fact) and part of it was to make sure the painting not only stayed safe but that Melanie found out the truth about her dad.

The secondary storyline was hilarious and made me love Cash more than I already did. His version of Star Wars is, in a word, awesome. I especially enjoyed his Chewbacca impersonation.

My favorite bits..

Cash, Star Wars opening sequence…need I really say anything else?

Cash: “Spoiler Alert – I play all the characters.” Josh: “Spoiler Alert – you die a virgin.”

Dutch pointing out that his tiger does not like to be caged.

Okay I know that they obviously couldn’t afford the real song, but were they really fooling anyone with that pseudo version of “Waiting For a Girl Like You”?

Finding out that Oz is apparently so scary that he makes Creepy Carol tinkle.

Whoa. I think my mind really was blown by Dutch’s tattoo of Tattoo.

Oz has his own rules? Do you think he and Gibbs from NCIS have traded notes?

The fact that when Dutch runs out of things to say to Melanie’s dad, he immediately goes to telling him that he’s wearing underwear.

The fact that Oz has his very own cone of silence.

Watching how Cash learned Rule number 8 (never contradict Oz) the hard way.

Cash did WHAT in his pants on Prom Night???

Really wanting to have a nerf gun war now.

Dutch’s slowmo dive to save Larry. (“I got mad air on that one, son!”)

Oz joining in a nerf gun war, with a bow and arrow..and you can call me crazy if you want, but I’m totally taking that as a reference to Christian’s role in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Oz: “How is your tolerance to nerve agents?” Cameron: “Not good.” Oz: “Then we should go.”

Oz tricking Larry into saying that he’d only been using Melanie for the job. Harsh, but she needed to hear it.

Oz admitting that he wrote the postcards to Melanie. Awwww!

Cash activating the cone of silence so he could have a silent

OMG! OMG! OMG! …um, I mean…next week’s ep looks really good.

What did you think of this episode of Breaking In? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!

Everything you said….. I was laughing my rear off in this episode. When the episode started with the crawl, I knew it was going to be inspired.

However, a thought comes to mind – Cash, being such a geek – how did he go to prom? 8-)
I so wish he had asked the “hottest girl” to be Leia – she is a match made in heaven for him.

As for the rules – one word – CROSSOVER! I would so love to see Gibbs meet Oz….. that would be amazing! LOL……

Well geeks DO go to prom you know, but it’s usually under humiliating circumstances (like being escorted by their moms, etc). So the fact that he…you know….I think that qualifies. LOL.

Oh I think we’re going to see more from “hottest girl” in the future because I agree, those two are a match.

OMG! Crossover would be AWESOME! Gibbs and Oz together? My mind would implode.

ROTFLOL…. I think this is yet another generational difference. Neither my brother nor I attended prom. But that was *cough* approximately 40 years ago. Geeks today have it easier. 8-)
I just read in TV Guide that this show many not be renewed? Say it isn’t so. Lately shows I lie are being killed. Maybe I’m a jinx….. 8-(

        A crossover could save it!!

Actually it’s already been renewed for season 3 so no worries there. It’s doing really well (for an FX show) and they gave it a renewal pretty much right after season 2 began airing. So I’m not sure what TVGuide was talking about.

I thought this was the first season of the show? Now I am really confused.

Yikes! That is totally my bad. I was busy replying to other posts for the other shows I review and got this comment mixed in with another one I did for another show. Sorry about that.

Okay yeah, I have no info on a renewal for this one but all I can say is I’d be terribly disappointed if it didn’t get renewed. I don’t watch a ton of comedies but this show has made me completely change the way I think about them. I really hope it does come back for more seasons.

Ah, ok… easy to do that!

What Matt Roush in TV Guide said was that “the jury was still out” and the show is “clever and fast paced while failing to be all that funny.” Don’t know what show he is watching, but I find the show hysterical!
