OFF THE MAP “There’s a Lot to Miss About the Jungle” Review

Off the map

OFF THE MAP “There’s a Lot to Miss About the Jungle” Episode 13 – I know that the outlook for this show isn’t very good, which really sucks because this season finale sure left us with a lot of storylines up in the air.

First of all we’ll start with my favorite character. Mina has gone through the most changes this season and in this episode she may have gone through the biggest of all – she found faith. She and Ben are driving Ryan to the hospital when they come across a truck load of young girls who’ve been in an accident. It’s moments like these that are making me think that maybe these people should never, ever leave the clinic. I mean seriously has anyone ever had worse luck? Every single time any of them go anywhere, they stumble across people with massive injuries involved in terrible accidents. But as this one ended happily, I guess I’ll let it go this time.

Also, when speaking of Mina I can’t of course not mention the fact that Tommy finally grew a set and declared he loved her. We never got to see her response (other than surprise), so who knows what she’s going to say?

As for Ryan, Ben spends most of the episode trying to get her to the airport so she could get a heart in New York, only to find out in the very end that it’s not viable. This makes her immediately decide to give up and stop fighting, but it makes Ben resort to something I’m sure he thought he’d never do to make her well – call his friend who “deals” in organs.

Finally there was Lily who, after helping her cocaine-growing boyfriend and his family in the fields, gets a rash for her troubles and a shot boyfriend to boot.

So what does this all mean? Hell if I know but I sure would love to find out. Guess we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed that we get another season.

My favorite bits..

Finding out that Cole and Zita have accumulated eight months of vacation time. Yowza.

Mina asking Tommy to feed Dinner. There were, like, three things wrong with that request.

The cop asking Lily to put a bra on him after he “panicked like a chiquita” when the firecracker went off.

Thinking it was rather biblical that Lily got a rash from the cocaine after helping to pick it once. I’m sure the exact same thing would happen to me, too.

Finding out that the kid stepped in front of a bull just so he could stop travelling with his cancer-fighting mom. Yikes.

Mina yelling at Ben that he fired her, after he told her to go with her gut because that was why he hired her. Okay, I’m officially confused.

Lily yelling at the cop that he may be policia, but she was the doctora! LOL.

That little girl blithely agreeing to hold the other girl’s ribs apart. Wow.

Tommy scratching Lily’s back.

Tommy standing up for his patient and telling everyone that the kid deserved to be heard.

Mina and all those little girls carrying that flower-strewn “stretcher” through the jungle.

Ben carrying Ryan to her plane. Aw, so chivalrous.

Mina admitting that maybe she was coming around on that “thing” the little girl asked her about. When that truck came over the hill, I was right there with her.

Ryan finding out that the heart wasn’t viable and deciding she just wanted to go home. Tommy getting advice from two teenagers on how to be a man and not a little bitch.

Tommy announcing that he was in love with Mina. Holy cow!

Cole showing Zita his new passport as proof that he wasn’t going anywhere.

OH NO! Please don’t tell me that this show won’t come back. They have left so many questions unanswered, not to mention lives hanging in the balance!

I enjoyed this episode but will be very upset if they cancel it.

Once again, thanks for recapping. As always you hit on the exact bits that I picked up on.

Well I don’t know anything for sure except that I’ve read that it doesn’t have a good chance. But there’s no official cancellation so that means there’s still hope.

Glad you liked the review! :o )
