NCIS “Tell-All” Review

NCIS (CBS) Tell-All

NCIS “Tell-All” Season 8 Episode 19 – Today was one of those spring days that was simply gorgeous – bright sun, warm breezes, blue skies, etc. So it was kind of fitting that tonight’s episode also had an overall theme of love, weddings and romance. All three were topics of many discussions amongst the members of the team (and by team I do include Fornell).

Speaking of Fornell, it was great seeing him in this episode and I cannot say how much I adore that they’ve turned him and Gibbs into good (if constantly bickering) friends. Looks like having that one ex-wife between them has brought them closer and I like seeing that they’ve obviously been hanging out a lot.

The case Team Gibbs was on this week appeared to be all about a mysterious book, then it seemed to be about illegal weapons trading but in the end, it too was all about love. Lost love that is, when a man murdered his wife and the man he thought she was sleeping with.

Tony, Ziva and McGee had their chance to discuss romance too and through that we found out that Ziva and her new beau are taking things slow and McGee is still looking for just the right woman and only wants to be married once (I’m with him on that one). As for Tony, well there’s no doubt that he is definitely intrigued by one very Special Agent EJ but as for whether or not they’ve done the deed, he’s not saying. Looks like we’re gonna find out for sure next week though.

My favorite bits…

The dude confusing green therapy for granola therapy.

Being really happy they didn’t hit that poor deer. Although walking up to it and taking pics is not that smart. Deer are cute but they can also kick like the dickens.

Just waiting for Gibbs to come around the corner when Tony mouthed-off that he had worse wedding juju than Billy Bob Thorton and Larry King combined.

Tony and McGee looking up when Ziva mentioned she wouldn’t mind have Gibbs there at her wedding.

Ziva guessing that Tony’s libido had been very satisfied lately.

Really wanting to know who the wedding invitation was from as soon as I saw Gibbs’ reaction to it.

Gibbs telling Palmer he should marry that girl. Whoa! Anyone else find that just a little odd coming from him?

Ducky calling confusing tweeting for “squeaking.”

Knowing as soon as I saw Tony lurking that he was going after the invitation in the recycle bin. He is such a puppy. Anytime he sees something interesting, he just *has* to go after it and learn more. Heck, he even sniffs at things like a puppy.

Gibbs giving McGee the task of finding the publisher because he was the writer of the group.

Tony went into the women’s shower with the letter? So not smart.

“I don’t know if a headslap coming down the aisle is the idea of a Kodak moment.” – LOL! Actually I find that image pretty darn hilarious and would expect nothing less from either of them at Tony’s wedding.

Tony admitting that he was wondering when EJ was coming back, too. Am I naive to think that those two have *not* actually slept together yet?

Yay! Fornell! I love it when he shows up in an ep.

Thinking that Tony was going to practically combust when Fornell asked Gibbs if he was going to both of their ex’s wedding.

Fornell, in his own way, trying to say that he and Gibbs wouldn’t be friends if they didn’t share an ex-wife.

Gibbs claiming that a good time with Diane was when she slammed her finger in a car door once. Aw, that’s terrible. Why on earth did he marry her?

Jumping about two feet off of my couch when that bomb went off.

The way Abby kinda giggled when she told Tony and Ziva to shut up. I laughed because their argument over how to do a puzzle cracked me up, too.

McGee in those ridiculous glasses.

Okay Supernatural fans, raise of hands, who else giggled when Ziva and Abby explained what a “Jinn” was?

Kinda hoping that Gibbs would find a reason to hit that snotty little brat in interrogation. What a beatch!

I hate to differ with Gibbs but since McGee once stole a cupcake from Abby because he was hungry and the vending machine was empty, there’s no way that cinnamon roll was the same one since he started there. Just sayin’.

Really digging those EMT uniforms. Very snazzy.

Gibbs telling the guy that if he had a problem with his wife, he should’ve have just gotten a divorce. If anyone would know, it would be him.

Fornell finally admitting that he never wanted to go either.

Thinking it was super sweet of Gibbs to cheer Fornell up by pointing out that he still had his beautiful daughter.

I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one who thought it was weird of Gibbs to say Palmer should marry that girl. At first I was like “Wait, did I hear that wrong?” haha Also, McGee with the glasses, was hilarious. I loved that he wore them throughout the entire scene even though it was completely unnecessary. All in all, the episode wasn’t my favorite, but I still liked it.

McGee in those glasses was classic and I agree that the funniest part was that he kept them on the whole time and unless I’m mistaken, nobody even mentioned them. Which was funnier still.

So glad I wasn’t the only one who was taken aback (in a good way) by Gibbs’ comment and I’m sure you’re right, he is a romantic at heart. He’s just had some very bad luck in that department.

You’re right, they were never mentioned. That did make it funnier. But, I couldn’t have looked at him throughout the entire scene, if I were there, cause I would have died laughing every time.

This wasn’t my favourite episode either but I can’t ‘not ‘like an episode of NCIS! I loved Gibbs that Gibbs told Palmer to “marry that girl”….I’m pretty sure my jaw dropped. And Tony was priceless as ever. When he was describing not wanting a Gibbs head-smack at his wedding, I was kinda picturing it in my head! And I was absolutely shocked when Tony told Ziva that she was right and that he should probably mind his own business when she started poking around at his life in the locker room! Tony and EJ…definitely more than co-workers in my opinion. And I think Gibbs knows from the look of next week’s preview! Overall, a decent episode, not the best one but definitely not predictable halfway through, like alot of primetime crime procedurals.

LOL I know exactly what you mean by not being able to dislike an episode of this show. Even the eps that are my least favorite will at least have *some* part that I like.

At the end of the very first show, “Yankee White” (Episode 1.1), Gibbs warned Kate (who had resigned from the Secret Service over an inappropriate on-the-job romance) that he’d fire her if she did anything similar at NCIS. Is it any wonder that Gibbs is cool to EJ, who seems the type to trifle with any male she fancies?

    • Anonymous

Yes that’s very true and you bring up a very good point about Gibbs’ attitude towards EJ. I am dying to see how that plays out in the next episode.

Nice episode summary! Totally agree with your list of favorite bits. Almost fell off my chair when Gibbs told Palmer he should marry that girl but it confirms what I’ve always suspected, Gibbs is a romantic at heart. That’s why he’s married 3 times since Shannon. Your description of Tony as a puppy (albiet a very cute puppy) was hilarious and so true. Gibbs words to Fornell about his daughter had me sniffing. Overall a nice episode, not up to last week’s but enjoyable.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the review! Yep I think you’re right about Gibbs being a closet romantic. It’s just too bad he’s had bad luck in that department after Shannon, though I’m sure the fact that he was trying to find a “replacement” for his true love was the reason why.

LOL, Tony is a puppy and yes, a very cute one at that.

  • Xenascully

Great! I knew this would be a good article :) . I loved Tony’s face in that moment–standing there, expectantly, wishing he had Harry Potter’s cloak of invisibility xD. And YES! I thought the same thing when Ziva started talking about Jinn hahahaha!

  • Pat

I adore Ducky, so his comment about squeaking had me rolling!

And, check me off as a Supernatural fan, and laughing about the Jinn!

What I love about this show is the combination of the crime drama and all the little side things going on – the relationships, the snark, and the way this bunch of people have grown attached. Other than being brought together in their job, I think they likely would never have met much less come to be friends!
