Maya Rudolph and Christina Applegate co-starring in a TV series? That’s an idea I can get behind. Deadline reports that Rudolph has signed on to Lorne Michaels and Emily Spivey’s untitled comedy pilot for NBC about an acerbic working mother (the already cast Applegate), who never thought she’d have kids.
Rudolph, who is being billed as a co-lead, will play the best friend and co-worker of Applegate’s character. Also appearing in the pilot will be the as-yet uncast stay at home husband and opinionated parents of Applegate’s character.
Like Applegate, Rudolph was offered several different pilots this season before deciding on this one. The SNL veteran will next be seen starring with Kristen Wiig in the big screen comedy Bridesmaids.
