HBO has given the go-ahead for its comedy pilot SPRING/FALL, which will be starring Tea Leoni. Deadline.com reveals that the project is set in the New York City fashion world, with Leoni playing “half of a dysfunctional partnership between two women with different approaches to career, family and friendship.”

Kate Robin (Six Feet Under) wrote the script for the project. She and Leoni will serve as executive producers, along with filmmaker R.J. Cutler and Leoni’s manager, Jimmy Miller. Cutler directed and produced The September Issue, the 2010 documentary which tells the story of Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

Spring/Fall will end Leoni’s long absence from television. She has not appeared on the small screen since the end of her NBC comedy series The Naked Truth in 1998, with the exception of a guest appearance in 2000 on Fox’s The X-Files. Currently, Leoni is filming the movie Tower Heist with co-stars Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, and Matthew Broderick.

The pilot for Spring/Fall is scheduled to begin shooting in June.
