OUTSOURCED “Gupta’s Hit and Manmeet’s Missus” Review

OUTSOURCED "Gupta's Hit and Manmeet's Missus" Episode 18

OUTSOURCED “Gupta’s Hit and Manmeet’s Missus” Season 1 Episode 18 - Let me just say this: OUTSOURCED is consistently funny, and I cannot thank the writers of the show enough for this. I find that when I watch comedies that they tend to be hit or miss, but Outsourced, even in the weaker episodes, is still fun to watch. So, thank you writers.

This week in “Gupta’s Hit and Manmeet’s Missus” Todd is presented with a tough decision. Gupta and Rajiv have conflicting stories about an incident that happened when no one else in the call center was looking. According to Gupta, Rajiv hit him in the face, but according to Rajiv, it never happened.

Todd calls in HR, and after the HR rep flirts him mercilessly (which… can you blame her? He’s a cutie!), she finally tells him that the company has a zero tolerance policy on violence. He’s going to have to fire one of his employees.

Todd calls a meeting with Gupta and Rajiv and sets up a nanny cam to record the conversation. The stories differ so much (and are hilarious when we’re shown what Gupta makes up), that Todd still doesn’t know who to believe. When the kola bear video camera runs out of batteries, he leaves the center to grab more, and runs into Manmeet and Charlie.

Charlie is directing Manmeet in a video for Manmeet’s American girlfriend. He’s attempting to appear much more impressive than he actually is, and the video is hilarious. Manmeet in a suit, living in Todd’s apartment, helping old women cross the street… too funny.

Eventually Charlie shows Todd that in the background of the tape you can see Rajiv and Gupta fighting, and Rajiv really did hit Gupta. Todd decides that he has to fire him, but has a hard time carrying it out.

After a talk with Gupta through his “talk hole” (a hold in the floor of Gupta’s apartment which looks straight into Todd’s bedroom), Todd discovers that Gupta provoked Rajiv by teasing him about the way he spoke to his father in law. Gupta feels bad and asks Todd to not fire Rajiv.

Back at the office, Rajiv does admit to hitting Gupta, but says that he was under a lot of pressure, and Gupta was in the wrong place at the wrong time… and Todd eventually allows him to keep his job, but with the condition that Gupta gets to pick his punishment.

I LOVE Outsourced and really, REALLY hope to see this show renewed for another season. What say you? What did you think of Outsourced?

I loved seeing Gupta’s version of the incident– especially the second one with the “giant” Rajiv. lol. And then at the end to find out Gupta took the opportunity of punishing Rajiv to get a playmate for board games! The “Candyland” bit was too cute. I also loved Madhuri in gossip mode. Reminds me of so many aunties…

I liked Charlie helping out Manmeet with his video– the first try was pretty well produced, but so obviously contrived. And then with the final product when he shows the credits, I couldn’t help but giggle at it all just being Charlie.
