HBO’s GAME CHANGE, about the 2008 presidential campaign, is taking shape–at least on the Republican side. Deadline reports that Ed Harris has signed on to play John McCain to Julianne Moore’s Sarah Palin.
Based on John Heilemann and Mark Halperin’s book about the inner workings of the John McCain and Barack Obama 2008 presidential campaigns, Game Change will be directed by Jay Roach from a Danny Strong script.
The movie will track the McCain campaign from the selection of Sarah Palin as the vice presidential candidate through the general election defeat. The roles of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Hillary Clinton still need to be cast.
Harris has four Academy Award nominations and he received an Emmy nomination in 2005 for his role in HBO’s Empire Falls.
