Great news, NCIS fans! Looks like that Tony DiNozzo origin episode we’ve all been wanting for about..oh I don’t know, eight years or so, is going to happen.
I am going to do my best to keep my excitement level down to a minimum as I relay the facts first. Please see the end of this article for the full fangirl freak-out.
So here are the details. InsideTV.com reports that ER’s Scott Grimes will appear in the May 3rd origin episode as Detective Danny Price. He’s Tony’s ex- partner and the two of them worked together 10 years ago while both were serving as cops in Baltimore. So far, Grimes is only set to appear in one episode.
Grimes was apparently pretty excited himself and has already announced his gig via Twitter.
Alright so there go the facts…now let the fangirl freak-out begin!
I literally screamed out loud and clapped like a little girl in pigtails when I got this news. We got a huge origin episode earlier this year all about Vance and while that was nice, it is high time us fans get to know a little more about Tony. We all know he was a cop in Baltimore (among other cities) but all we know about how he got the job on Team Gibbs was that he “smiled.” That is a cute explanation but not exactly full of facts.
So what do you think NCIS fans? Are we really going to find out how Tony and Gibbs first met and what led the taciturn leader to take the former cop under his wing? Those two have a bond that was forged before we saw them on screen and were already a team when the show started. Finding out exactly how that happened is going to be like a dream come true..well at least for this hardcore Tony fan.
I guess we’ll have to see how it all plays out but all I can say is that I cannot wait for May 3rd.
