I think that this is a good show. However the writing and acting is getting sloppy. John was shot in the previous episode but last night there was no follow up about his condition and his partner/lover seemed fine. Fitz was scared to death by the return of Stram, tried to frame an innocent man but the Lt. seemed ok with this. There was no closure to the episode since we don’t know what happened to Stram in Canada. Fitch is becoming too complicated and Imperioli’s acting is not good enough to make him believable or sympathetic. I like the show and prefer it to the overrated Good Wife. I want it to return but with better writing and stronger acting.

The show this past Tuesday showed that John died from his gunshot wound by his whack adoo crack head snitch chick. It was kind of a shocker writing him off the show. It showed them grieving, but they did move on quickly. They did show the results of the shooting though. Looks like you may have missed it.

I agree with Bob. They did show that Stone got shot and Sanchez was very upset with it. Fitch showed emotion the only way he knows how; subtlety. In any show that lasts for 45 min to an hour, you only have room to expain so much for the viewer. So it is up to us as the viewer, to put two and two together. I like the show and would like to see it continued.

I am a fan of Detroit 187 and have stayed with the show as the characters have developed and the acting and writing improved. However I am very disappointed in The Blackout finale episode. The episode started rather choppy with Fitch over acting to Stram’s melodramatic threats. Then it started to go downhill rapidly during the scene when Longford and Mahjan “arrest” Stram’s bodyguards; the ringing of Longford’s cell phone broke a potentially intense dramatic scene for no good reason and with clumsy timing by the writers/director. The amateurish placement of the murder weapon on the passive bodyguards was so obvious a plant that you just know it would not stand up in court. The show has been generally very believable but it continued to fall apart when the FBI agent related that the two bodyguards had been found handcuffed with “the murder weapon on the front seat like a stale donut”. How weak of a case is this? What police officer worth their badge would accept evidence and suspects so neatly presented? It smells like a setup even through the TV screen. Fitch showed up late to the christening and the whole cast was so obviously lying, almost like school children, to the FBI agent, that was completely out of character for everyone, that the credibility was totally destroyed. What happened to the tough, honest cops of Detroit 187? I still like the show and hope it returns but someone needs to work on the consistency of the characters, timing and plot development.

Now if they explained all of this, there would be no room for a 2nd season would there. They have to leave it ambiguous because if they tied it up in a neat bow, that would indicate the end of 187

Dadvan, I agree with you that it was all just “too convenient” but I think the writers had their tongues firmly planted in their cheeks. That blonde fed didn’t believe them for a second, but as their captain said, who’s gonna believe 2 mobsters over a squad full of cops?

Meanwhile, I waiting for the review–given that it’s the season finale, you’d think a reviewer would deliver promptly.

Oh…and if you want to talk about clumsy timing, why the blond fed walking into a Baptism with news of criminal activity?

  • Mac1763

I hated the ending. Who would not shoot Stram in the woods?

  • alex

I did think the season finale was a little bit unbelievable and I didn’t like Fitch setting up the innocent guy. I don’t know maybe he wouldn’t have gone through with it, but I do hope he shot the guy in the woods. I like this show a lot and hope it will be back for another season. I’m a little sad they killed off the hottie, though. :)

Finally a show that unlike The Cabaret of ABC shows Desp. H wives, Bachelor, Castle “gag me” Cougertown and McCrappy on Greys Anatomy a real cop show about a real city mirroring each other and both on a comeback…well probably get Mandy Potamkin as a real life cop who used to be a doctor and is now running an ice skating rink in its place….

  • tomatacan

the finale unfortunately had to recap and move on quickly because the suits want to put a reality show about a former model who overcame bulimia or an ex happy days star who wants to become a paramedic….

I wish ABC just would have sold this show to cable tv…..

Please I beg you dont take this show off. Its one of the best Tv shows in a long time especilly for ABC( who in my opion has the no brainer reality shows). The cast is great the writing is awsome and I love the humour. Give it a chance like Hill street blues was given a 2nd chance.

How funny was it when Fitch’s kid, Bobby, told Fitch in Detroit it’s called pop?
