FX Orders Drama Pilot POWERS

powers comic book

FX is looking for a new drama to build up its schedule. After announcing the pilot American Horror Story from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, FX now has given the green light to the pilot POWERS. This project is based on the police procedural comic book series by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Avon Oeming.

As Hollywoodreporter.com details, Powers follows detectives in a homicide department devoted to cases that involve people with superpowers. The pilot is written by Charles Eglee (The Walking Dead, The Shield) who will serve as an executive producer, along with Bendis, Oeming, Michael Dinner, David Engel and Circle of Confusion (The Walking Dead). Dinner (Sons of Anarchy, Justified) will also direct the pilot.

Initially optioned years ago to Sony for a feature film version, Sony TV and FX Productions are co-producing the project, which hopefully will come to fruition this time around.

Powers’ writer Bendis is also known for his work on other Marvel titles, including Avengers, X-Men and Ultimate Spider-Man.

I LOVE Powers! But I am honestly worried as to how they are going to translate it to the screen. That said I am glad it’s on FX because they are known to have gritty shows, which is what Powers needs. Can’t wait to see it!
