V “Birth Pangs” Review

V Season 2 Episode 7 Birth Pangs

V “Birth Pangs” Season 2 Episode 7 - Well, fellow V fans I need to apologize for the lateness of this review! Email issues abounded, and my review was sort of lost in transit. So, I apologize!

Now onto the review! This week on V we were given a lot of information regarding the Concordia breeding project, AND we got to see Eric stepping up to take control of the 5th column!

Also, V went international this week! Erica and crew take a trip to Bangkok to meet with the Fifth Column leaders. During their meeting, they discover that the other leaders are planning to avenge Eli’s death; but Erica attempts to change their minds. Instead of a heavy strike, Erica wants to use her contacts on the mother ship to infiltrate and fight off Anna.

Well, the fifth column leaders aren’t stupid, and they’re not going to take orders from a woman that they just met. Needless to say, they want to see Erica’s ability to lead before they charge full steam ahead with her plan.

Meanwhile aboard the mother ship, Tyler (the little brat) has signed on for the pilot training program and needs to undergo “one more physical” just a formality (yeah, right Anna). and they shave his head. The tests show that even with the help of Red Rain Tyler’s phosphorus levels are not high enough for him to breed with Lisa.

Anna then decides that it’s time to bring in a DIFFERENT possibility for Lisa – and introduces her daughter to Raphael. And why not? What mother doesn’t want to pick out their daughter’s breeding partner? Ew.

Lisa doesn’t really want to um. “entertain” Raphael, for reasons that we know, but that she must hide from Anna. so she retreats to the bottom of the ship to have some quality time with grandma Diana who tells Lisa to embrace her human emotions, but to also keep them covered from Anna.

But wait – that’s not all! Erica and Hobbes are now in Hong Kong and find a Visitor working undercover as a doctor that treated all Tyler and a few other kids. After breaking into Kai’s (the doctor) office , Hobbes blows open the safe with – wait for it – his cell phone. Yep.

He and Erica discover that there are other kids like Tyler in the world – and that a Visitor ship is stationed above each city (29!) where children like Tyler live. In addition to that information, the safe also has things that look like vitamins, but what actually turn on to be metallic bugs. I almost died. So now Erica knows that Tyler could be killed since there are other breeding options.

BACK aboard the mother ship (a lot of stuff happened in this episode!) Ryan, who wasn’t blown up by the explosion that killed Eli, is sort of freaked out to see that his daughter is now a toddler (Anna and Joshua were running some experiments on the cute little thing) and calling Anna “mommy.” Creeeeeeeepy.

We ALSO find out that Anna pretty much wants to off Ryan now that his cover is blown with the fifth column and he’s no longer needed. So. there’s that, and sucks to be Ryan.

Diana and Lisa bond over human emotion (and even share a hug!), and now we’re left with a lot of information of what the Visitors have in mind for humans.

So, what did you think of “Birth Pangs”? I’m completely in love with V and continue to sit on the edge of my couch when it airs. I loved that this week we were given a TON of information and a peek into exactly what Concordia is all about aside from just being a “breeding
program”.

I find Anna to be unbelievable in the worst way possible (especially since she’s thinking of replacing her own daughter – I forgot to mention that in my recap!), but I love to see her and Lisa coming to blows. Both verbally and physically.

I’m also really interested in the direction Lisa’s relationship with Diana is going to play – and her relationship with Tyler now that he wants to be lobotomized and not feel anything. Anyone else really sick of Tyler? He’s a big cry-baby.

I’m psyched for next week ‘s V and can’t wait to see where the story goes!
