OFF THE MAP “Es Un Milagro” Season 1 Episode 7 – There’s bad luck and then there’s really bad luck. Last week a man had to endure surgery when there was no medicine to be found in the clinic and then, just when he’s barely patched together, the chopper he and his wife are flying in crashes. So he’s split open again but it’s his wife who’s worse off and though she seems fine at first, she’s the one who dies. Like I said – really bad luck. The worst of it was how hard it hit Mina and watching her try so hard to keep the woman alive.
In this episode we also learned a little more about Charlie. Up until now, he’s just been this cute little kid hanging on Tommy’s coat tails. But we got to find out a little more about him and it turns out that he’s had a pretty rough time of it in the past. Though he’s not exactly living in a cardboard box (far from it actually), he still needs the clinic and the people in it to make up for the family he no longer has.
As for everyone else, Cole fought the drugs and won, Lily discovered she wanted to try and make things happen with Mateo (before finding out he might be a drug dealer), Ryan found and saved her patient but also ruined her heart in the process and Ben realized how much he loved Ryan. All in all, there was a lot going on in this one.
My favorite bits..
Ben asking for body bags making me a little sick. Although the likelihood of there not being casualties does seem pretty slim.
Lily joking that she was dating Batman.
Knowing something must be seriously wrong when Ben said “oh, that’s not your seatbelt.” Yikes.
Really hoping that Cole could continue to hold off from using the contents of that little bag and wishing he would throw it out.
Tommy telling Charlie that the explosion wasn’t like CHiPs so much as it was like Die Hard. Yeah, I’d say that was pretty accurate.
The medic telling everyone that if the pilot didn’t want to go into surgery, nothing would change his mind.
Ryan’s entire conversation with God and while in the midst of complaining about everything that had just happened, drops right in on the girl she was searching for.
Cole hiding his own shaking hands by claiming he needed Mina to get on top of her “biz.”
Feeling so bad when I found out Charlie’s story and thinking it was sweet that Ben noticed how happy he’d become since Tommy had shown up.
Ryan having to perform a medical procedure on herself, out in the jungle, with only a young girl to assist.
Mina vowing that her patient couldn’t die, she just couldn’t.
Tommy knowing that Charlie had steady hands because he could deal from the bottom of the deck. LOL.
Lily pointing out that the drill they had was better than one from the hardware store. Really? Cuz I’m not so sure that was true.
Trying really hard not to roll my eyes at the mother actually having the gall to yell at Ryan after she’d just carried her daughter through the woods to save her life.
Never believing that the words “you stupid, stupid, friend” would make me nearly want to cry. That whole scene with the pilot and the medic was fantastic.
Feeling relief when I found out that Cole hadn’t actually taken the drugs.
Totally disagreeing with Cole – I happen to like grape candy and I think orange sucks.
Ryan promising the little girl that she was going to go places someday.
Charlie telling Tommy that he wasn’t going to die under his bed. LOL.
Cracking up when Tommy saw where Charlie lived. Dang, that sounds like a good gig.
Actually tearing up a little when Cole covered Mina’s patient and she lost it as he kept reassuring her that this loss wasn’t the same as that other patient she lost.
Ryan realizing how much Ben loved her by the reaction he had to finding out she was in heart failure.
Lily discovering that Mateo was growing a LOT of cocaine. Oh boy.
