Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are returning to FX with a new hour-long drama series pilot, AMERICAN HORROR STORY, announced John Landgraf, President and General Manager of FX Networks. This collaboration between the current Glee co-creators/executive producers reunites the two with FX, where they worked as executive producers on the Golden Globe-award winning hit drama Nip/Tuck for seven seasons.

Murphy and Falchuk have been discussing American Horror Story for a while now. Landgraf describes it as a wildly brilliant original series, calling Ryan and Falchuk evil geniuses. Falchuk commented, “We knew this project was perfect for FX. That network put itself on the map for its big, bold, some might say slightly twisted shows, and the creative freedom we had on Nip/Tuck was incredibly liberating. John immediately got what we were trying to do, which was bring the horror genre to television but with our own subversive sensibilities. And we couldn’t be more excited to get started.”

The pilot for American Horror Story is co-created by Murphy and Falchuk, and will be directed by Murphy with production beginning in April. If FX orders the pilot to series, production would begin in late spring and debut this fall. In addition to Murphy and Falchuk, Dante Di Loreto (Glee executive producer) will also serve as executive producer. American Horror Story is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television.

I am a big fan of bringing horror to the small screen. The more horror the better. Hopefully this show will be great!

Horror scares me! :) I wonder if it will it be bloody horror, creepy horror, or mess with your head horror?

I’m with you Cordelia. I am not a horror fan, but I am curious about what type of horror this will be because I can handle some better than others :)

I don’t think bloody will translate as well on the small screen. Actually I don’t like just bloody even at the movies. Creep or mess with your head for sure would thrill me!
