NBC Pulls CHASE From Schedule

Chase
Is it just me or are networks moving shows around and changing viewing schedules a lot more than they used to? Seems like I report on a reduction in episodes, a schedule change or an unexpected hiatus all the time now.

Well it looks like I’ve got another one to report. According to the Futon Critic, NBC is benching its freshman drama, CHASE. The series, which last aired on January 26, was drawing a modest 4.17 million viewers and 1.2 rating among adults 18-49.

Looks like those numbers just aren’t good enough, especially when compared with what will take Chase’s place on NBC’s schedule. Minute to Win It, which has posted series-high numbers this week (9.52 million viewers and a 3.0 rating among adults 18-49 for the second episode of its two-hour stunt), will continue to run in Chase’s old time slot. The show will actually air twice, with back-to-back episodes at 8:00/7:00c and 9:00/8:00c on Wednesday nights for the foreseeable future.

Five episodes of Chase have yet to air, but there’s no word yet on when (or if) they will.

It’s also worth mentioning that it is much* cheaper to produce a game show than I’m sure it is to produce a scripted (outdoor set) show like Chase. That factors into their decision as well. I like to watch minute to win it occasionally too, but not every night!

Yeah that’s very true and I’m sure it’s part of the decision making process. I’ve never watched Minute to Win It so NBC will be losing me as a viewer in that time slot completely.

I’m getting tired of seeing these last minute changes in programing. If NBC is cancelling this show just air the remaining episodes and get it over with. These continuous changes will just result in CHASE fans missing out on any remaining episodes (including part 2 of NARCO)because the program will get put into a time slot that no one notices at the last minute.
    stop pre-empting the show.

I liked the show Chase and was looking for to another season or 8 etc. I’m so tired of reruns that I’m actually thinking of cancelling my tv. Once for a rerun is acceptable but over and over multiple times is just a cheap money grabbing out of control NBC. Greed. Can they not see in time. Sometimes it takes time for people to change.
