PARKS AND RECREATION “The Flu” Season 3 Episode 2 – It’s flu season in Pawnee, and the flu doesn’t discriminate in this new episode of PARKS AND RECREATION. I continue to love this show, and this episode was no exception. From the beginning we knew that we were in for a treat when Leslie is quarantined in her office because of flu symptoms. She denies that she’s sick, because of the town meeting to discuss the Harvest Festival.
Well, Leslie is sick, and April and Chris all end up in the hospital sick with the flu. While they are laid up (and this is a NASTY case of the flu), Tom spends some time attempting to recruit some local business for the Harvest Festival by visiting the local day spa, and Ron and Andy decide to have some time bonding over a grill. In the office.
The best part of the episode in my opinion, was Chris’ response to getting sick. His “my body is a microchip” dialogue was perfect. Chris as a character is great. He’s supposed to be a little obnoxious, but some how Rob Lowe makes it work and, as an audience member, you find yourself wanting more of Chris… he’s just a genuinely nice guy.
It helps that Rob Lowe is HIGHLY attractive as well.
I was excited that Andy and April had a little more screen time in “The Flu”. Like I’ve said in my other reviews, I love them, and was REALLY happy to see Andy sitting in April’s room. Even if it was for only 10 seconds. “I’ll stay here until you wake up. .. but that could be like hours.”
Also, way to go Ann! It was about time she stood up for herself when April was concerned.
Back in the world of Leslie, you knew that the flu wasn’t going to keep her away from a town meeting – especially when the town meeting was to discuss her Harvest Fair which is going to help promote the Parks Department.
I hope that the writers go in the direction that they seem to be heading with Leslie and Ben. Ben helps Leslie out by standing in for her during the town meeting. He was also the one that forced her to the hospital for treatment. While his intentions were great, Ben isn’t Leslie.
Her checking herself out of the hospital and the way that she made it through the town meeting was so perfectly Leslie it was awesome.
I love that there is comedy on TV that is consistent and makes me wishing for more. I can’t wait for next week’s episode of Parks and Recreation!
** I forgot one thing! And this made me choke I was laughing so hard – Andy: “I typed your symptoms into this bar, and it says you may have internet connectivity errors…”
